Wondering what to do in Paris?

A city that looks like it’s stepped from the pages of a storybook, Paris is the city of love, the city of lights, and the city of endless attractions both hidden and on display. The French capital is a wonder of the world, and it’s not difficult to see why. Many of the most popular things to do in Paris revolve around the city’s food, shopping, and architecture, but for locals, Paris’ charms are a little different. On a private tour with a local guide, your list of things to do in Paris moves beyond the tourist traps – you’ll blend in with the locals at hole-in-the-wall haunts, bohemian boutiques and hidden rooftop bars that show the city from a different perspective.

The word “Paris” evokes many things – but perhaps the first that come to mind are food and fashion. It’s no secret that French cuisine is some of the finest in the world, and Paris is the city that does it best. No visitor will ever be lost for things to do in Paris with famous bistros, boulangeries, and patisseries around every cobbled corner. Aside from its amazing cuisine, Paris is a city synonymous with impeccable style, and joining well-heeled locals browsing through designer boutiques, haute couture houses, and vintage stores is one of the quintessential things to do in Paris.

      France’s real-life fairytale

With its maisonettes draped in ivy, beautiful buildings, and pristine city views, Paris is one of the most breathtaking cities in the world. The streets leading between world-famous monuments are as stunning as the monuments themselves, and something as simple as grabbing a buttery croissant on a boutique-lined boulevard can be one of the most enchanting things to do in Paris. With this city as a backdrop, whether you take a nighttime stroll down twinkling streets, browse humble markets, or relax along the Canal Staint-Martin, the things to do in Paris are all effortlessly picturesque.

From the old-world charm of antique Le Marais to the bohemian appeal of eclectic Montmartre, the 20 arrondissements of Paris have their own distinct personalities, and the fun things to do in Paris might change depending on where you find yourself. The city center is brimming with iconic sights, but further afield, the must-sees in Paris start to look a little different. The 11th arrondissement is a diverse, street art-plastered foodie hub; the 18th arrondissement, perched regally on a hilltop, is an artistic haven. Wherever you end up exploring, every district in Paris is as charming as the last.

Our tour guide Del was outstanding. Enthusiastic, optimistic, very accommodating and very street smart. She made sure to look out for my husband and I while guiding us to see the main sights. I was especially appreciative of how she spotted and stopped a pick pocketer who tried to remove something from my purse. She sternly looked at the pick pocketer, grabbed her hand and said “What are you doing!” The startled pick pocketer quickly exited the train. Thankfully I didn’t lose anything. My phone, cash, credit cards and sun glasses were safe thanks to this courageous act. Thanks to Del our first visit to Paris was filled with nothing but great memories and excellent pictures that she took. I highly recommend her as a tour guide.

Jill gave us a wonderful morning exploring the Montmartre region. As we requested, we walked everywhere and she showed us how central our hotel was. The morning flew by and she got us into our art galleries for a quick walk through and gave us a great history talk in the local park. We got back to the hotel with lunch from a local patisserie. I highly recommend Jill and this tour company. The company responded so quickly to our enquiries.

Two weeks and two great experiences with City Unscripted! The second was with Marie as we explored the Montmartre neighborhood in Paris. Marie also had a great personality and was knowledgeable on the area.

Delishiya was amazing - knowledgeable, fun and she really understood what we were looking for - an off-the-beaten track tour of the Marais neighborhood, the Jewish highlights - a Temple, Anne Frank garden and Holocaust memorial, the best falafel in town, and a wonderful bakery - plus fascinating historical churches and buildings that are now museums and libraries, wonderful little cafes and vintage shops. Plus she gave us great tips for further exploring and evening activities and an app to help us get around Paris on our own. She is a gem, and really added the perfect touch to our Paris Ian experience!
