Gerry did a great job of giving us new insights into the ancient Roman world and how it impacts, well, everything. Although this was my third visit to Rome I lstill learned so many things. And, Gerry was easy to talk to, ask questions of and a genuinely likable person. Fantasticó!

What a fantastic tour! Gerry was so great at tailoring it so that we got to see the hidden gems along with the must-see highlights like the coliseum. He gave us the right amount of history and political context to understand the significance of each site, bringing everything to life while still allowing us to cover a lot of ground in three hours. He's also just a super nice guy, and the time flew by. Highly recommend!

Having visited Rome 17 years ago, we were looking for a tour that would take us away from the “standard” sights and provide a more “neighborhood/native” sense of the city. Ugo, our guide, made our 3 hour tour feel like we were seeing Rome with a friend. His flexibility, knowledge and consideration was exceptional and it was truly a pleasure spending time with him. He captured our specific interests and, combined with his knowledge and expertise, we truly got a new, enriched sense of Rome——capped off by a double cream gelato!

We had an incredible half-day private tour of Rome with Alessandra through City Unscripted. Our hotel was in the Jewish Ghetto, and Alessandra met us there, letting us explore that historic neighborhood before heading to Trastevere for a typical Roman street food lunch — a real treat for foodies! From there, we visited Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, Saint Ignazio Church (be sure to bring something to cover your knees and shoulders), the Pantheon (outside), Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and more. Alessandra’s knowledge and insights brought each location to life, and she was incredibly flexible — even suggesting a delightful uphill walk after lunch to take in panoramic views of the city. It was another highlight of the day and absolutely worth the effort, even in the summer heat. She went above and beyond by giving us dinner recommendations for that evening and breakfast spots for our last morning, which made our trip even more memorable. Spending the day with Alessandra felt like exploring Rome with a close family friend, joyfully sharing her love and deep knowledge of this beautiful city. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a local, insightful, and fun experience in the Eternal City!

We have been to Rome before but wanted to learn a bit more behind the major sites. Alessandra was very informative and took time to tell us about the rich stories dating back to Roman times and modern events that shaped the city. She was an experienced guide with knowledge and character and expertly took us around the city to impart her knowledge in a fun and personable way. We are grateful for her expertise.

Luca was amazing! He showed me really cool ancient Roman sites that other tours don't visit! He also took me to a very beautiful island with an old church and taught me some local WW2 history. We discussed how these histories play into modern Italy. I had a fantastic time and we even stopped for a 5 minute coffee break! Luca gave me some great advice on local restaurants and invited me to live music! Overall very friendly and conversational. I wasn't feeling well so we walked slow and made frequent stops. It felt like I was walking around Rome with a friend.

Luca took me to some really cool Roman sites that other tours don't visit! He also showed me an important Island and told me about some WW2 history. He was very friendly and kind. He told me a little bit about modern politics as well. I had a great time.

The easy going way walking through Rome and yet so full of beautiful information and insights, from history to legend and myth, I am so glad we did it.

This private evening tour of Rome was well worth it. Everything was easy from the start, and the whole experience felt smooth and stress-free. Walking through Rome at night was the highlight. The Christmas lights and nearby market gave the city a special feel, and stopping for dinner, pastries, and hot chocolate made the evening even better. It never felt rushed and was a great way to take in the city. Luca, our guide, was excellent. He knew the history inside and out and explained things in a way that was interesting and easy to follow. You could tell he really enjoys sharing Rome and its history. Rome has been on my bucket list for a long time. We went in not knowing exactly what to expect and came away very happy with the experience. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, personal way to experience the city.

Vania was very well versed on the City and directed us to places we would have missed on our own. We appreciated her sending us links to other things we might enjoy.

We had a great trip with our guide Vania. Her communication prior to the trip was excellent and she listened to my requirements and tailored a trip to suit. It was a fantastic mix of churches, tourist sites and local food delicacies. She showed us a few local secrets that we would never have found otherwise.

Such a great tour with Vania! She took us to very special sites that we wouldn’t find on our own. She helped bring an understanding of the history of the neighborhood and all of the amazing structures that make it so rare.

To start with we were late. Them we had a very unusual idea of what we wanted to do, were very difficult and had people that went different ways. She was very kind, patient and flexible.

Spent a very enjoyable and informative walk through the neighborhoods with Indira. She tailored the agenda expertly to our needs and the weather (very rainy) making for an excellent experience.

There were a host of important and interesting sites that you don’t get from a guide book that we were lucky enough to experience. And books are not so good with answering questions.

Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful. She answered our questions and provided food based on feedback.

Our tour guide was very friendly and gave us a lot of information. He brought us to the areas we were interested in seeing.

Angelo was great! He met my husband and I in our hotel lobby and guided us through Rome for 2 hours. It was a fantastic walking tour. And would highly recommend Angelo to anyone!!

My City Unscripted tour with Angelo was absolutely fantastic. He was so kind, incredibly knowledgeable and knew shortcuts for many of the lines (saved god knows how much time). Angelo was the perfect tour guide - he asked us what we would like to see ahead of time and then tailored the tour to our interests. He was knowledgeable about Rome’s extensive history and had interesting stories to share about Rome’s details that we otherwise would never had learned about. We did the three-hour tour, which was great for a leisurely walk around a few of Rome’s neighborhoods, so we got to enjoy the atmosphere of the city. I cannot recommend this tour enough and if you can, try to get Angelo!! Grazie mille!

Olga went above and beyond on our wine tasting tour!!!!! We had full glasses of wine with appetizers and most importantly a loving conversation. The orange wine she wanted us to taste was unavoidable so she later found us a bottle and left with the concierge at our hotel. We were blessed to have her as our guide!!!

Had the most exceptional tour with Nadia, of City Unscripted. I've grown to love this tour company. It's like hiring 'a-professional-best-friend' for a day. And oh man, I got so lucky! My guide Nadia was so kind and friendly. Our time was short and she asked me: "How much do you want to see?" and "How fast do you want to walk?" I said: "Everything and fast!" Nadia was a great guide. She was laid back and knowledgeable and gave us the perfect tour we were hoping for. We asked for out of the way places in Rome without tourists and we were able to learn about hidden gems.

A custom experience that we have never had before. We filled the questionnaire almost in reverse, stating the places we had already seen and did not wish to see again. Nadia communicated often to be sure she could make a good plan for us. We saw things we didn't even know existed, enjoyed the inside of a basilica, and spent time in the Jewish Ghetto. One of our fellow travelers who tried to find a site on there own, without a guide never found it even though it was not far from our hotel. A guide is a worthwhile expense

There is so much to see that internet searches can't reveal. We very much enjoyed our walking tour of Rome with a local guide. We filled out a questionnaire before-hand, which helped shape the tour to best fit our interests, capabilities & limitations (being an "aging couple"). Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. She showed us things we never could have found on our own. I even "upgraded" my straw hat to a real one from a company making them since the mid 1800's! From pictures to purchases to palate, it was well worth the extra cost for a private tour. Group tours are adequate, but this was specifically tailored to our interests & capabilities.

Massimo was a wonderful guide! Knowledgeable, great personality, and he had filled us with a lot of knowledge in the four hours that we were together.

Rome is such an amazing city, so much history and culture! I was the only member of our family who had been to Rome in the past. For our first morning in the city, I wanted a private walking tour to get everyone oriented and excited about the next 4 days we'd be spending there. Our highly professional and personable guide, Massimo Avella, did not disappoint. He arrived at our hotel early and greeted us enthusiastically. It was his sincere wish to show us his beloved city with our particular interests in mind -- and not just history and culture, but also restaurant and shopping recommendations. He kept us entertained and informed throughout our 3 hours together, and when we had to say goodbye, left us wishing it didn't have to end so soon! Thank you, Massimo!

Bea was a fantastic guide. She was warm and engaging. She's bright and very knowledgeable. She has an artist's soul so it was easy to connect while she shared some of her favorite places in Rome. She was also very flexible regarding the itinerary. It was an exceptionally hot day so the plan we initially laid out had to be adjusted. She pivoted like a pro, without complaint. Ask for Bea if you want an intelligent (she knows German and Chinese!) guide who radiates warmth and personality.

We specifically signed up for this tour because we wanted to experience the culture and hidden gems of Rome. The tour did not disappoint thanks to our amazing tour guide, Beatrice. She asked us ahead of time about our interests. And, it was very clear that she prepared and planned our tour based on our interests. We had the chance to get away from the hundreds of tourists because we had already been to all the historical sites. And, we experienced fun Roman foods, wine, markets and art. Something we would have never experienced on our own. We asked Beatrice for recommendations for the rest of our stay. And, she took the time the next day to respond back to us to give us great suggestions. Please ask for Beatrice if you want to really experience the heart of Rome.

Claudio is an amazing historian. He took the time to point out specific sites of historical importance and architecture. Claudio took us down beautiful floral lined streets and alley ways that we would otherwise of not seen. I would recommend him to anyone for a private tour of Rome.

Claudio was an excellent guide! We saw things we had never seen before on our previous trips to Rome. He made the experience so fun and interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and I highly recommend it.

Claudio was a very excellent and kind host who paid attention to my unique needs. He took me to boutiques that I never would have found by myself, helped me find pieces that work for me and gave advice for my style. We paused for beverages and for beautiful vistas of Rome. The pace was very good for me and we took care of everything on my list: gifts for family, something for the home, and many lovely things for me. I am not a great shopper. Prior to my afternoon with Claudio, I was not finding the kinds of shops that suited me. He gave me advice for any further shopping if I need it.

Claudio was a wonderful host who took me to the exact types of boutiques that I wanted. We covered everything on my list in shops I never would have found on my own. We paused for history and beautiful vistas while keeping a pace that was good for me. Claudio gave me good clothing advice and helped find sizes for me.

Andrea, our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He also considered what we were capable of and tailored the walk to accommodate our needs.

If we or any family should come back to Rome I would ask for him

Andrea was a fantastic tour guide! I would highly recommend him if you have an interest in the history of Rome and Christianity. I learned so much from my time with him.
