You'll often find me strolling along the Bayside, taking in the great views. I love shopping in the city's markets and boutiques, always on the lookout for something special. Yokohama offers a diverse food scene. With a variety of flavors, I'll guide you to the perfect spot to satisfy your cravings. I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge with you for an unforgettable time in Yokohama. I'm here to make your visit truly memorable. So, let's embark on an exciting journey through Yokohama together! I can't wait to show you the wonders this city has to offer.
I decided to stay for healing purposes. This was 12 years ago and now Japan is my second home. Over the years I have gained the superhuman ability to walk for ages without getting tired. I can also speak Japanese with a flawless accent! I enjoy the simple things in life, whether its indulging in street food or exploring smaller areas like Hinodecho all day. Even though I know the city well, I'll always be a tourist at heart. I love both the popular areas but also value hidden places that only locals know of. Fun fact of the city: urban legend has it that Yokohama is Pikachu's home. If you appreciate getting lost and getting lost in translation, let's do it together!
I was born and raised in Japan and graduated from Keio University. I have experience living in California totally for 11 years because of my husband’s job. Since 2000, I have been teaching English to people from children to business persons. I started my career as a tour guide in 2019. I have guided a lot of foreign tourists around Tokyo areas and also Kamakura, Nikko, Mt.Fuji, etc. I always enjoy meeting and guiding foreign tourists with a smile and would like them to visit fantastic places in the Tokyo area.
Hiroko was a wonderful tour guide. Her English was outstanding, personable, friendly and knowledgeable. Food selection was perfect with variety of Japanese and Chinese foods. I would highly recommend!— David , Yokohama
I've lived in different places, but now I am located nearby the center of Yokohama. I never get tired of discovering this city and what it has to offer. It’s characterized by a long history of international relations with the Western world, thus it’s the epitome of what Japanese people call “wayosecchu”: the perfect combination between the Japanese and Western world. And this can be seen at every corner of the city, where old architectural buildings mix up with gigantic department stores and more modern buildings. It also has a lot of green spaces and it’s surrounded by the sea. It's also the perfect place to have a walk while discovering new cafes and hidden gems. One of my favorite areas is called Yamate, located on the top of a gentle hill from which you can look out over the ocean. It used to be the area where diplomats and traders lived, thus it has a lot of buildings resembling European architecture. For me it’s the perfect place to escape the crowd and relax. I also love the Aka-Renga; it used to be a warehouse to stock products coming from the sea, but it has been renewed with shopping places, restaurants, and event spaces. It’s full of craft-mans shops and delicious food. Every time I go, there's a street performance or an event going on. It’s one of the trendy-chic areas of the city, close to Minato Mirai and its gigantic department stores. I like to talk and exchange thoughts with people from different backgrounds and cultures, because I think everybody has interesting stories to share. I hope you'll join me for an city adventure!
What I love most about this city are the amazing views of the Bay Area, the rich cultural experiences, and, of course, the delicious food. One of my favorite activities is exploring the world of ramen! We have a ramen museum where you can taste regional ramen dishes from all over Japan and even make your own! Plus, the Cup Noodles Museum is a fun stop to learn about the history of instant noodles and create your own custom cup. When I’m not indulging in ramen, I love unwinding at the Minato Mirai Manyo Club, where you can relax in an onsen with stunning views or enjoy a massage. It’s a perfect spot after a day of exploring. I’m also a big fan of walking around the city, soaking in the sights and enjoying the incredible variety of food. Let’s explore the best food, shopping, and fun activities Yokohama has to offer together!
I’m always on the lookout for new restaurants, cafes, and shops, as this city is constantly evolving, and there’s always something new to discover. The peaceful walks along the waterfront, with stunning views of the bay, are my favorite way to unwind. Having raised my daughters here, I know all the best spots for families and how locals truly enjoy this vibrant city.
I love hosting people from all around the world, because this is the best way to learn about different cultures. In my free time I enjoy wake-boarding with friends and visiting galleries or museums in the city. I'm always educating myself on Japanese history, both ancient and modern. For a fun nigh out my choice is a karaoke party! I actually used to be a part of an a cappella club in my university. In Yokohama my favourite place is Chigusa, a local jazz cafe. There I can relax and listen to music, have a drink (or two), read a book, and chat with friends. Yokohama, like Tokyo, has something for everyone so come and join me for an adventure!
I'm Riri, your friendly local host here in vibrant Yokohama. One of my favorite spots is the charming district of Noge, tucked away on the other side of Minatomirai. The izakayas there have a special vibe, something entirely different from the bustling energy of Minatomirai. Exploring the local dining scene is my passion – I love discovering hidden gems and sharing them with friends. I know this city like the back of my hand, from the popular landmarks to the lesser-known local gems. Whether you're in the mood for a cozy izakaya, an authentic Italian meal, or some sizzling Teppanyaki, I've got you covered. So, if you're looking to experience the true essence of Yokohama – its diverse neighborhoods, mouthwatering cuisine, and warm hospitality – I'm your go-to guru. Let's make your time in Yokohama unforgettable!

Despite being considered less ideal for habitation, it thrives as Japan’s second-largest city, with a quiet yet undeniable energy in daily life. Its excellent access to Kamakura, Enoshima, and Tokyo makes it a perfect base for exploration. I enjoy guiding guests on hikes through both urban and natural areas, showcasing Yokohama’s hidden charms. My deep local knowledge goes beyond surface-level attractions, offering insights into how residents truly experience the city. Whether exploring historical sites or relaxing by the coast, I aim to provide an authentic and enriching experience.
What I admire most about this city is how its rich past as one of Japan’s first open ports can still be seen and felt today. I enjoy strolling along the port area, where every walk brings a new discovery from charming shops to cozy restaurants. Yokohama’s skyline is truly one of a kind, and I never get tired of exploring its beautiful views. I know neighborhoods like Minatomirai, Yamashita Park, and the Futamatagawa and Seya areas very well. Whether it is finding the best ramen, exploring historical buildings, or navigating public transport with ease, I love helping visitors experience the heart and character of Yokohama.

Show moreMadoka was charming and interesting and she created the perfect experience for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to spend the day with. The sights and the history were matched only by the very special vintage fashion she took us to see. She knew exactly where to find unique and special bags for a great price and in excellent condition! She brought us to favorite local spots for delicious food and it was just the perfect day. Show moreWe enjoying seeing the huge food floors in the department store and train station, but then we chose smaller places to eat which was more relaxing. All the food was terrific and we were stuffed at the end. Hiroko also helped us learn how to navigate the subway and the app. We definitely got to places we wouldn’t have on our own!
