If there’s one thing you can guarantee on food tours in Edinburgh, it’s that Scotland’s most famous delicacies have been perfected in its capital city – and the country’s cuisine has certainly made a name for itself! From iconic haggis to cullen skink, the local delights here are 100% unique to Scotland. And there’s no better way to discover the ultimate Scottish bites than on an Edinburgh food tour with a local guide! Pull on your stretchiest pants and get ready for a food-fueled stroll through central Edinburgh. Taste traditional dishes, elevated cuisine and sweet treats, then wash it all down with a wee dram of whisky. You’re in Scotland, after all!
Don’t be fooled by Edinburgh’s unpretentious attitude. There’s a lot more to the city than Scottish shortbread and deep-fried everything. A walk through the storybook city center reveals a wealth of places to eat on Edinburgh food tours, from family-run restaurants to upmarket eateries. Over the past few years, Edinburgh has quietly been transforming into a culinary capital in its own right, with a new generation of independent restaurants taking the Scottish classics and elevating them to new heights. There’s never been a better time to soak up the city’s food scene than right now.
Choosing where to eat in Edinburgh can feel like an impossible task, and the last thing you want to do is end up at an inauthentic tourist trap. Luckily, with a local insider leading the way on your Edinburgh food tours, you can guarantee that you’ll be experiencing only the very best. You don’t have to go to one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh for a food experience you’ll never forget. The city’s locals know where to find the tastiest food in the city, and it’s not where you’d expect. Are you ready to indulge in the local diet at holes-in-the-wall and traditional markets off the beaten track?
What would a day in Edinburgh be without sampling its world-renowned liquid gold? As the “gateway to Scotch whisky”, Edinburgh is the place to be for the finest blends in the country – and you can try several of them for yourself on our Edinburgh food tours. You know about Scotland’s whisky reputation, but did you know its gin scene is also rising up the ranks? Instead of washing down your haggis with a dram of whisky, you could explore the city’s independent gin distilleries instead. The way we see it, there’s no reason food tours of Edinburgh shouldn’t end in a tipple or two!

We did a private whisky tour with Brian and we had a great tour of Ediburgh. Went to a distillery, a few pubs and sampled various whiskies. Would highly recommend Brian for any tour he has.

This was such a fun time! Of course, whisky makes things fun, but Doug was personable, engaging, and knowledgeable.
