Tailoring each experience to your wishes by locals who love their city
It makes sense that the most iconic German cuisine has been perfected in its capital city. In fact, the only thing to rival Berlin’s world-famous sights and nightlife scene is its food! And how better to taste the best of German delicacies than on a Berlin food tour with a local host who fancies themselves a bit of a culinary connoisseur? The best restaurants in Berlin take traditional cuisine and elevate it, but you don’t need to go to an upmarket eatery to try the city’s most delicious food. Street food stalls with lines of locals stretching around them are scattered throughout the city, serving mouthwatering sausages, pretzels, and grilled chicken.
Choosing the right place to eat in a city like Berlin can be a challenge, and the last thing you want to do is end up dining at Berlin restaurants that cater solely to travelers. That’s why our food tours in Berlin help you seek out the spots loved by in-the-know insiders like your local host. Forget fine dining at the top restaurants in Berlin – a local guide knows where the real stars of the food scene are found, and it’s far off the beaten track. Explore grungy dive bars with the best beer and currywürst, or get lost at a local food market where you can try a little of everything!
Berlin isn’t all Bratwurst and eisbein (although missing out on these staples would be a crime!). As Berlin has evolved into a world city and startup hub, its food has come to reflect that, so you can expect a few surprising spices and unfamiliar flavors on food tours of Berlin with City Unscripted. Syrian, Turkish, and Vietnamese immigrants have added to the fusion of flavors that can be found at Berlin restaurants and hole-in-the-wall eateries. This internationalization of the food scene means post-party late-night snacks like doner kebab and falafel are some of the best food in Berlin.
If there’s one thing Germany loves, it’s beer – the country’s historic brewing culture dates back hundreds of years. With a beer-making reputation built on such a solid foundation, it’s only right that a food tour in Berlin should sneak in a pitcher (or two) of Berliner Weisse or Bockbier. Between scoping out the best restaurants in Berlin, let your local guide show you the city’s coolest independent breweries, beautiful beer gardens, hipster micro-breweries, and even relaxed beach bars. Can you think of a better way to end an unforgettable food tour in Berlin? Neither can we!
What an amazing tour! Thank you for this tour that shows a side of the city that most people never get to see. The non-touristy spots gave me a real feel for the culture and daily life. I’ve got an excellent guide too (Luca), and I feel lucky to have had the chance to explore the city “unscripted.”

Andreas was very personable, extremely knowledgeable, and also intellectually curious. He showed us sights along the way that we had seen through the day, but added additional insights. We went to a very cool, very out of the way bar, and had a very enjoyable night. Night tours should be more of a thing for everyone to consider.
