The best Singapore night tours & experiences with locals

It’s no secret that some cities that are beautiful by day become even more breathtaking by night. That’s certainly the case for Singapore, a mind-blowingly modern metropolis that only really starts showing off when the sun goes down and the incredible things to do in Singapore at night take center stage. As the city’s iconic skyscrapers light up, swanky bars and pubs along the stylish waterfront area become crowded, locals leave work to start socializing, and the Singapore nightlife scene wakes up. Night tours in Singapore are the perfect way to experience the best of the city after dark, when the tourist traps empty out and the locals take their city back.

Anyone with a guidebook can explore the must-see sights, but the true spirit of Singapore can only be felt when locals clock out and begin their nights. On night tours with City Unscripted, you’ll get a backstage pass into the locals-only side of the Singapore nightlife scene. You could hop around late-night hubs like Clarke Quay and HarbourFront, sip on a Singapore Sling at a hole-in-the-wall bar, or seek out the street food stalls locals love most. Exploring Singapore at night doesn’t have to mean getting caught in a tourist trap – we’ll show you where the locals spend their time.

If there’s one thing Singapore at night isn’t lacking, it’s a range of electrifying places to party up a storm. But if you like your evenings a little calmer, there are plenty of amazing things to do on night tours in Singapore. Take a walk through a sky garden lit up by fairy lights, catch a mesmerizing laser show, trawl Chinatown for bargains, or gaze up at the iconic Supertree Grove – vertical gardens that light up magnificently at night.

With so many cultures calling Singapore home, it’s no surprise the city’s food scene is one of the best in the world. Of all the things to do at night in Singapore, indulging in the local cuisine at a popular restaurant or a vibrant Singapore night market should be top of the list. You could stroll along the buzzing downtown area and grab a sit-down meal at an upmarket eatery, but the ethnic enclaves are where you’ll find the best of the city’s food. On night tours in Singapore, why not grab the opportunity to listen to live music at a hawker center while tucking into a steaming bowl of laksa?

Our guide, Mark, was fantastic and met us at the cruise port for a whirlwind tour of the city. I gave him an ambitious list of places we wanted to see and he put together a tour to see it all. He led the tour by teaching us how to navigate the city’s amazing subway system. We hit all of the primary sites and a few additional ones recommended by the guide. Overall it was an excellent day with a terrific guide.

He not only took us in a fast paced tour to see all of the places I requested ( and it was ambitious list), he also taught us how to navigate the city using the subway system. Mark was great.

Even before our private walking tour started, Colin, our local guide, was super communicative via email and WhatsApp, and he was really keen to understand the type of experiences we'd like to see in Singapore to make the tour personal for us. He shared a detailed itinerary based on his extensive local knowledge, and including a few specific locations we'd mentioned based on reviews we'd read and a previous trip to Singapore Our meeting point, location and time were agreed well in advance with confirmation updates the day before, all very reassuring. On the morning of our tour, Colin was on time and stood exactly where we'd agreed to meet him. He was immediately very friendly and helpful and re confirmed the itinerary and was still very flexible and open to changes as the tour proceeded. He was also very quick to understand our walking pace and level of physical ability, especially in the heat. Our tour included a mix of the classic locations; tour of Chinatown including Chinatown Complex, a walk through Clarke Quay and the Singapore River and on to Fort Canning Park, a walking tour of Fort Canning, including historical locations at Fort Gate, Battlebox, Fort Canning Heritage Gallery and Spice Garden, then a scenic walk down Canning Rise passing local landmarks including the Armenian Church and Central Fire Station. Colin included a rest / snack break at Funan Digitalife Mall before heading on to a specific location we'd requested on the Singapore River to replicate a photo at Boat Quay from our honeymoon in the 1990's (Colin was super helpful and captured the perfect replica 2024 photo). Our tour then continued through the Colonial District passing more local landmarks including St Andrew’s Cathedral, the National Gallery, Padang and the Asian Civilisations Museum. We then crossed the Singapore River via the historic Cavanagh Bridge, and walked through the Fullerton Hotel (with very welcome air conditioning) towards Merlion Park and the Marina Bay. Our tour concluded with a walk to Raffles Place to the heart of the Central Business District. Colin was able to answer many of our questions along the way, and spoke clearly in perfect English, but if he didn't know a particular point, he would say rather than just making things up. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour experience with Colin, and would highly recommend it. As a general point, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, ensure you have a hat, and carry water to drink along the way, and be
