This was our first trip to Tokyo and we wanted to get a quick orientation of what Toyko was like. We signed up for the Private & Custom Tokyo Kickstart tour with a Local. Our guide was Taka who grew up in Tokyo. He was very excited to have us. He contacted us before we arrived in Tokyo to find out our interest. We asked him to give us some options and he created two custom tours for us to choose from. We selected one and he met us at our hotel and we were off. Taka was very knowlegable of the city and a fun guy. We took the subway and went to visit the Asakusa Temple. This is a beautiful temple with lots of history and the grounds had all kinds of activities and shopping going on. We then walked Nakamise Shopping Street where we ate some local food and snacks. We got lots of great pictures. We then walked through more local syteets and cross over the Sumida River on the way to the Toyko Skytree. At the top we saw a panaramic view of the city. This helped us unstatand how large this city is. We walked through Sumida Park and saw families having picnics and playing sports. Taka filled us in on the history along the way. This is a walking tour so be prepared to do some walking. Taka our guide was excellent and we recommend him highly if you go on this tour.
