Kyoto beckons! Immerse yourself in the city's enchanting beauty with a local host who will unveil hidden gems and iconic landmarks on this captivating experience. Immerse yourself in the beauty and charm of this ancient capital, indulging in delicious treats and breathtaking views along the way.

This experience starts at the awe-inspiring Kiyomizu-dera temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My personal favorite among Kyoto's temples, it boasts stunning architecture perched on a hillside. Take in the panoramic views of the city and discover the Otowa waterfalls, where a sip from each stream (just pick one!) promises good fortune in health, love, or longevity. Your local host will share the fascinating history and traditions behind this iconic landmark.

Next, you’ll delve into the heart of Kyoto's enchanting atmosphere by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka. These charming traditional streets, famous on social media, come alive with vibrant energy as you weave through narrow lanes lined with picturesque wooden buildings. Your host will navigate you through the bustling shops filled with local crafts, souvenirs, and delectable treats. Don't miss the iconic Starbucks with tatami floors, a unique fusion of modern convenience and ancient ambiance! Keep your eyes peeled for geisha or maiko, Kyoto's famed entertainers, adding a touch of elegance to the streets. But watch your step – local folklore says tripping here brings bad luck!

Feeling peckish after all that exploring? You’ll take a delightful break at Panel Cafe, a local favorite known for their legendary jiggly pancakes. Imagine fluffy pancakes infused with the delicate flavor of matcha, a Kyoto specialty. Savor the deliciousness while enjoying breathtaking river views. This is a true Kyoto indulgence you won't want to miss!

End your Kyoto experience by ascending to the top of the Kyoto Tower, a modern marvel offering a panoramic vista like no other. Witness the sprawling cityscape unfold beneath you – a stunning tapestry of ancient temples nestled amidst bustling streets. Here, you can create lasting memories with commemorative stamps and a free photo printout to take home a piece of Kyoto magic.

This Kyoto experience promises a delightful blend of cultural immersion, delectable treats, and unforgettable views. Prepare to be amazed by the beauty and charm of this ancient capital!

It was a walking tour mainly through the Gion neighborhood and he took us through streets that tourists don't get to know if they go alone. It was very worthwhile. He took many photos of us during the tour and was very friendly. We highly recommend him. It was excellent for us who speak Spanish.

Ian was a fantastic tour guide in Kyoto. We visited the city and the country for the first time with our twelve year old son, and Ian did a fantastic job finding the right pace, connecting the past and the present and kept us focused and engaged for the entire tour. I highly recommend going with Ian on your next tour. Thank you for a fabulous time.

Our guide! Toga was the best. He offered us choices as to what we wanted to do for the evening and catered the experience to what we were up for in that moment. He was also very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area and I felt like I actually learned something about the places we visited. He also had an affable personality and was very chill and easy going. He even later sent text links to some places we were interested in visiting on our own- which we actually did. He recommended a nice late night gyoza spot we ended up going to that was fantastic. We all really enjoyed our tour with him and would highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Masaya was great and flexible for seeing Kyoto. As someone interested in getting some special photos, he helped me find all the right spots! He had a great knowledge of the city and his facts about cultural and historical landmarks was really helpful to understanding the meaning behind so much in Kyoto.

Not quite cheap, but a very special opportunity to experience the city through the eyes of a local. We were able to ask all our questions and learned a lot. We would do it again.
