We had a great experience with Akihiro touring Sapporo. It was booked as a food/drink tour and we loved the places he showed us — spotlighting Hokkaido’s simple but delicious approach to hospitality. We also enjoyed the conversation about life in Hokkaido and the factors that make it distinct from the more traveled parts of Japan. We even had time to go over some Japanese and American literature. All in all, and enjoyable and informative evening. We highly recommend Akihiro!

Akihiro was very professional. Friendly. He shared a little extra time to show us the clock tower nearby. It was nice to have someone take us where we needed to go via subway without thinking about it. The Maruyama Park and shrine was really nice. Had freshly made tea and mochi.

It makes a difference touring a city with a native son. Akihiro's choice of sites to visit was telling and perhaps unexpected.

to see aspects of a city through the eyes of a native son. Akihiro led us on a tour of sites that we purselves would likely have skipped: the view from the top of the Olympic skip jump structure; a visit to the Shinto shrine in Maruyama Park; Sapporo's famous miso ramen in a homely stall within a department store. We rode subway trains and buses with the locals. We'll leave Sapporo feeling that we know the city and its culture better than we would have expected.
