From strolls across bridges to Aperols by the canals, experience a slice of local life and enjoy what the cobblestone streets of Venice has to offer
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Venice is the perfect place for you to experience a slice of local life! Roaming along the canals, you'll be immersed into the daily culture whilst seeing the city's most captivating sights, enjoying delicacies that are really iconic to the region, all with a host that knows these cobblestone streets like the back of their hand!
As I love to always say ANDIAMO
I’ve got you starting at Panificio Giovanni Volpe, a traditional venetian-Jewish bakery. If you know me, you know I love to start the day with a good coffee and they don’t come better than from here. Enjoy a coffee or beverage of your choice, get a freshly baked local treat, discuss the experience plan and soak up the early Venetian surroundings. You’ve got a great time ahead.
You’re close to the Jewish Quarter (prior Jewish Ghetto) once the location Jews were forced to live by the republic, now a vibrant location that is well worth its place in this itinerary. There is much to learn from your host about the long history and you can also check out some of the Synagogues that are still in use today. It’s equally vibrant and beautiful, your host will help you really experience this location.
You’ll move to your next location along the canal lines and whilst you will be spoiled for choice I want you to aim for Bacaro ae Bricoe, here you can sample some classic cicchetti and spritz. Enjoy the local fare whilst learning about your surroundings and the wider city. This is one of my favorite spots for a photo, take some, remember to share them with me!
Palette satisfied, you’re off to a supermarket that used to be a theater, trust me, this is a beautiful hidden gem of the city with a great history. I was amazed at how it is set up and how the modern has so effortlessly consumed the old. It’s very impressive. Top tip, you will need to buy something to get out so grab a water or similar to accompany you on the rest of your experience.
I want you to see the hidden streets I found, your host will take you from Despar to the San Marco area. You’ll see locals going about their daily lives, your host may even introduce you to one or two characters along the way. Learn about the piazzas and buildings that accompany you along the route. Each with history and stories of their own.
There is an important photo stop you must make at Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, the classic venetian spiral stairs make the perfect frame for a snap.
Whilst we are thinking about great photo opportunities i’m sending you to Ponte dell'Accademia. It’s not a stretch to say it's one of my favorite bridges in Venice. It has to be good if I have a favorite bridge, right? Take some classic photos like crossing the bridge or overlooking the canals below, your host will be happy to help.
I know you’ve done a lot so I’m going to slow it down for you, just the pace, the location is still up there. You’re off to Gelateria Nico where you will enjoy gelato or espresso… or both? You can rest here and trade stories, all with a beautiful view of the surrounding islands.
It’s time for the last stop of the experience and I promise it's worth it. Scuola dei Varoteri is home to many local Osterias but I want you to try Osteria alla Bifora, it's my favorite. Enjoy some local dishes, your host can recommend the best to try. Let me know what you have? Share your dishes and thoughts of the day whilst in the shadow of the beautiful Santa Margherita Piazza.
The experience is done now but you’ll have memories that last a lifetime, safely knowing you have experienced the best on offer.

Loved the pace at which we explored this beautiful city as it was very hot. We enjoyed the stops along the way for delicious refreshments. Also great experiencing the hidden gems and quieter less crowded areas
Show moreBenedetta met us at our hotel for a four-hour private walking tour of Venice. As a local (born and bred) Benedetta displayed a great deal of knowledge of the history and culture of Venice. We ambled around going where we wanted and seeing more besides. We’d opted for this tour on Day 1 of our trip, primarily to source inside knowledge of the sights to visit, how to avoid the queues and the best locations to eat/drink and take a ‘romantic’ Gondola ride. That evening we ate at a fantastic seafood restaurant (Al Colombo) in the quiet back-streets close to Rialto Bridge. The following day, we took Benedetta’s advice and headed to the quieter Jewish Quarter (Cannaregio) after a lovely Gondola ride in San Toma area. This tour was an excellent way to see the city at an easy pace and gain an insider’s knowledge of the city and its sights. Thoroughly recommended!
