Half day in Venice

There’s a reason why Venice is the capital of aperitivo - reasons to stop and sample something delicious are as plentiful as the bridges in this fairytale floating city. Sip on Italian varietals in your choice Bacaro, a tiny bar where you can get a glass of wine and a cicchetto (mouth-watering savoury snacks) and share the bar counter with other Venetians, who’ve also earned their first aperitivo of the day. The gastronomic delights won’t end here - fancy tasting Osteria della Vedova’s famous meatballs, with a 150-year old secret recipe? Or perhaps the heavenly Biscotti Bussolai Buranelli (butter biscuits from Burano)? The best way to understand Venice is definitely by exploring its food culture, with a sated stomach and a matching smile.
Let your guide lead the way to some of the best bacari that only a local foodie could point out. After sampling your choice of local wine, Aperol spritz or Campari, you’ll be fuelled up for some exploring. Just a stone’s throw away from Piazza San Marco, you’ll get the chance to try traditional Venetian crustless sandwiches or ‘tramezzinis’ with ham and mushrooms at Rosa Salva, a pasticceria open since 1867. Keep walking towards an old fish market where you could try creamed codfish or marinated sardines. Then, hidden away a few steps from the Rialto bridge is a must-try foodie haven; from ‘polenta bianca’ to ‘fritto misto’ (fried seafood) and ‘lasagnette con nero di seppia’ (pasta with squid ink), you may just have to undo that top button.

We walked and experienced several uncrowded ventures. Andrea introduced us to a few new areas in Venice that were outside of the big tourist areas which we loved.
Loved the food tour experience - would recommend to everyone and Ceren was a cheerful helpful guide.
It was great to enjoy Venice along with Emma James Nicola and Rod. They are all great and nice guys. I tried my best to be flexible to accomodate them during the tour, "cutting" places they had already seen, helping them with bookings etc. and finding alternatives for our stops for food and drink. I hope they appreciated my flexibility and some surprising places we visited. I really enjoyed very much wandering around the city with them, since as I told them, Venice for me is not a job! The best guests with whom to share a great walking and food tour, highly recommended to every hosts!
We’ll expertly match you to your best suited host based on your interests, personality and the experience vibe you’re after.
