Hi, I’m Shin

Nagasaki

I absolutely love this city, especially the stunning ocean views from various spots, some of which are still off the beaten path for tourists. The rich culture shaped by Nagasaki's unique history fascinates me, and I'm always excited to share it with visitors. One of my favorite things to do is explore the city's historical sites, including those I'm still discovering myself. I also enjoy spending time in Peace Park and Glover Garden, two neighborhoods I know very well. The local food scene here is incredible, especially the fresh fish prepared in all sorts of delicious ways. As a Nagasaki expert, I can guide you to the best places for breathtaking views and introduce you to some fantastic local restaurants and pubs. Whether you're looking to enjoy a quiet moment by the ocean or dive into the city's vibrant culinary scene, I'm here to make your experience unforgettable. I can't wait to show you around and share the beauty and history of Nagasaki with you!

Hi, I’m Masaaki

Nagasaki
5.0 (12)

When I was 16 years old, I studied at a highschool in the USA as an exchange student for one year. More than 2, 000 students from all over the world were studying under the same program and it was a great experience for me to learn about the different cultures of the world through talking with them. I still like to travel and make trips several times a year, domestic and overseas, whenever I am not playing tennis. During my career, I welcomed numbers of important business clients and colleagues from overseas and it was my duty to show them the history, culture and beauty of port town Nagasaki, surrounded by beautiful nature. It was a great joy for me, just as guiding a good old friends from the distant who took trouble to visit Nagasaki to see me! Portown of Nagasaki has a very unique landscape, the port being surrounded by mountains. If you climb up one of the mountains, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the port where international cruise ship is docked almost everyday. Nagasaki is located at the west end of Japan and closest to Asian Continent (and to Europe also) and this again brought a very unique feature to Nagasaki's history as once "sole international trading port in Japan" during the national seclusion period. After retirement, I started to host international tourists. It is my great joy to talk with them and show them the beauty of my beloved hometown of Nagasaki.

Hi, I’m Moe

Nagasaki

What I love most about Nagasaki is its beautiful landscape with hills, sea, and city blending together in a way you won’t find anywhere else in Japan. I’m also passionate about food, especially Nagasaki’s local and one-of-a-kind dishes. I enjoy doing food crawls and have a personal list of hidden food gems that I love introducing to visitors. When I’m not eating my way around the city, you’ll often find me fishing and enjoying the calm of local life. I know areas like Hamanomachi, Kanko-dori, Peace Park, and Suwa Jinja very well, and I’m especially knowledgeable about Nagasaki’s history, football culture, and everyday local life. I look forward to exploring the city together at a relaxed and enjoyable pace.

Don't Take Our Word For It

Here's what happens when the right host meets the right traveler.

We had a wonderful afternoon seeing a few sights of Nagasaki with Fauzul our guide. She was extremely accommodating as my girlfriend has mobility issues and as well we requested seeing the beauty of the city as opposed to the tragic history. We started out on foot to climb to a high view point which was wonderful as they had several elevators for us to take to minimize the walking. There was also a beautiful garden up there. Then we travelled by tram to see Spectacles Bridge, Peace Park and ended in Chinatown. We had a great visit and learned a little Japanese along the way. Arigato Fauzul.

Fantastic way to see Nagasaki. We had an exceptional tour guide, Yuri. She took into account our ages, 72-82 and work the tour around that and what we wanted to visit. We used public transport to get from 1 place to the next and Yuri helped us negotiate it all the way. Couldn't be more pleased with Yuri or the tour.

Shin was our guide today and he is very nice man, who's knowledgeable, insightful, adaptable, and very well versed in the history, traditions, and culture of the local area, and greater Japan. While touring, we felt like we were walking and talking with a friend, who just happened to be a great local guide that loves his job. Walking and riding the trolly were a lot of fun, and allowed us to see so many things that we'd never have otherwise seen.

Yuri was a wonderful young lady who took our ages into account when planning and showing us around Nagasaki. We are 4 retired ladies ranging in age from 72 to 83. She was so very knowledgeable and gave us relevant information about each site we visited. Hearing about and seeing the Peace Memorial Park and the Hypocentre Park was sad but fascinating. Yuri used the public transport system to get us around which saved not only time but made it easier for all of us. We would highly recommend this tour and especially Yuri as a guide to our families and friends.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Are experiences the same as tours?

No. Our experiences are unscripted and designed around you. Instead of following a rigid itinerary, your host will plan a personalized journey that feels natural, immersive, and unique.

What if I don’t know what I want to explore?

That’s completely fine! Select an experience theme or a flexible discovery experience, and after booking, answer a few questions so your host can design the perfect experience for you.

Will I be able to speak to my host beforehand?

Yes. After we match you with your host, we’ll introduce you so you can chat about the plan and make any tweaks before the day.

How do you match me with a host?

We ask a few questions. After you book, you’ll fill out a short questionnaire about your interests and travel style. We’ll then match you with the best local host to design your experience.

Can I request specific places or types of stops?

Yes! After booking, you will receive a questionnaire where you can highlight must-visit spots and anything else you’d like to include, and your host will craft your experience around them.

Will I know my itinerary in advance?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to chat with your host directly and agree on a plan for the day. However, there’s always room for spontaneity and local surprises!

Can I mix different themes in one experience?

Yes! You can blend food, culture, history, neighborhoods, or even a bit of nightlife if time allows. Just share your interests in the questionnaire, and your host will build the day around them.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.

Can I cancel if my plans change?

Yes. You can cancel for free up to 24 hours before your experience date—no questions asked.
