Benny gave us a long and interesting tour. He tailored it to our interests and told us many details about life and culture in Hong Kong, including details of the Man Mo temple. The tour gave us a great introduction with main attractions, over nice coffee places to hidden street art gems, from financial district to residential areas. Benny even shared some additional locations after the tour.

We really enjoyed this tour with guide Benny, who was great. Lots of walking and exploration of Kowloon. The food was really good and we had sufficient breaks between stops so we didn’t get too full - though there was plenty of food. Although we had plenty of savoury items, there were a lot of sweet things too (4 sweet stops) - more than I expected. This is not a criticism, since i enjoyed them all, but it’s just something to be aware of. Of course the tour was private and is customisable but we wanted to just put ourselves completely in Benny’s hands and do what he suggested, and he did a great job. I particularly enjoyed trying some of the more unusual (by Western standards) local items like the bitter herbal tea and the fried pork intestines in the night market. Aside from the food this was also just a great way to get to know many areas of Kowloon on foot. We walked all the way from Sham Shui Po to Jordan (4 metro stops!) over the course of 3.5 hours

I cannot say enough good things about our full day tour of Hong Kong with Benny of City Unscripted. First, the booking process included a detailed questionnaire regarding our interests, and everything we considered a “must see” or “could do without”. For us, it was History? Check. Architecture? Check. Markets? Sure, but we’ll skip the live chickens at the wet market. Public transportation or Uber? The former, and lots of it. And so on….. Then, we were able to choose our guide, based upon his or her background and reviews. This was definitely a first for us with a tour company. Once we decided on Benny, we immediately heard from him by email with follow up questions, and after some discussion we decided on an itinerary that felt fully customized. The tour itself (8 hours) was everything we asked for. We covered several areas of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, a perfect mix of tourist highlights and off the beaten path sights. We threw questions at Benny all day, which he was able to answer thanks to an obviously deep knowledge - and love - of his native city. And let’s not forget the delicious dim sum lunch and teahouse! We certainly got our steps in, but we always felt Benny was keeping a watchful eye on whether we were flagging a bit. It was a perfect day of touring, and we feel comfortable enough on the Metro and ferry to go out and do some more on our own. In sum, Benny and City Unscripted are highly recommended.

We can’t say enough good things about our full day tour with Benny. We visited a perfect combination of must see’s for first time visitors plus off the beaten path highlights. Highly recommend Benny and City Unscripted.
