Hey there, I'm Alex, your friendly local host here in Kyoto! What I adore most about Kyoto is its diversity. It's a city where nature and tradition embrace, where you can have a blast and create unforgettable memories. Navigating Kyoto is a breeze; everything's just a hop and a skip away. From the historic gems in Kamigyo-ku to the serene beauty of Sakyo-ku and the vibrant heart of Nakagyo-ku, I've explored every nook and cranny. My passion is diving into Japanese culture trying to understand what makes Kyoto's people so enchanting. I'm your go-to person for all things izakaya, sake, and unique local shops. So, whether you're a history buff, a culture enthusiast, a foodie, or looking for the best Instagram spots, I've got you covered. Let's embark on an exciting journey through Kyoto, where tradition meets modernity, and every corner has a story.

My reviews

Phenomenal! Alexis was the PERFECT guide to show me, my husband and our three boys around Kyoto. He was well versed in national and local history as well as all religions and sects and took the time to bring us to quiet places to meditate and reflect. He also set up a wonderful sukiyaki dinner for us before departing, and has sent us a suggested itinerary for our remaining img time here. He is to be commended for an awesome day, creating family memories we will treasure forever.

Alexis was a fantastic guide and passionate about what he does. Although not of Japanese birth, he has a deep understanding of Japanese culture due to his years in Japan. He is very straightforward in his no nonsense approach to the the facts and history of the tour highlights. We certainly covered a lot of ground , but he was always checking on our well being to make sure it was within our limits.

Alex was outstanding. Wish I could give him a ten star review. He met us on time at Hotel Granvia ( great hotel at the train station) and he was so informative and really easy to be with.
