Hey there, I'm Alex, your friendly local host here in Kyoto! What I adore most about Kyoto is its diversity. It's a city where nature and tradition embrace, where you can have a blast and create unforgettable memories. Navigating Kyoto is a breeze; everything's just a hop and a skip away. From the historic gems in Kamigyo-ku to the serene beauty of Sakyo-ku and the vibrant heart of Nakagyo-ku, I've explored every nook and cranny. My passion is diving into Japanese culture trying to understand what makes Kyoto's people so enchanting. I'm your go-to person for all things izakaya, sake, and unique local shops. So, whether you're a history buff, a culture enthusiast, a foodie, or looking for the best Instagram spots, I've got you covered. Let's embark on an exciting journey through Kyoto, where tradition meets modernity, and every corner has a story.

My reviews

Alexis was wonderful! He tailored our visit to our interests. And he went above and beyond in finding us at the beginning of the trip. We came to Kyoto by bus from our ship, and we were "deposited" in a bus parking lot. So his finding us and our not having to find him removed much of the stress about getting lost!!!

We were very lucky to get Alexis as our tour guide as he was very helpful throughout the whole tour. We took a three hour, but we wish we had taken an 8 hour one as the amount of information and locations that he was willing to provide and show us was incredible. His way of explaining the myths, history and local tricks are very engaging and fun. We were not expecting to enjoy Kyoto as much as we did, but this is mainly due to this tour and Alexis’s enthusiasm.
