Reviews of Our Osaka Experiences

Taku gave us an amazing “Eat like a Local” tour through Osaka. He not only took us to the more touristy markets, but took us to local spots we never would have found ourselves. He ordered everything for us and all of the food and drinks were delicious. He also shared great recommendations for the rest of our trip, spoke excellent English, and was a ton of fun to be around. Highly recommend asking for Taku if you want a truly authentic taste of Osaka!

My wife and I did a walking food tour with guide Maria. It was a lot of fun not only trying all kinds of Japanese food but also exploring side streets. Maria is not originally from Osaka but after 30+ years there she knows the city and culture. The tour included a lot of food we might not have tried on our own. We really enjoyed our time with Maria.

We had such an amazing time on our Osaka food tour with Kai—she absolutely deserves 5 stars! She guided us through the Dotonbori district and made the whole experience feel fun, relaxed, and really personalized. My husband loved the takoyaki, and I’m still thinking about the matcha crepe she introduced us to—it was so good! My parents especially enjoyed trying all the different small bites along the way, which made it a great experience for our whole group. One of the things we appreciated most was how much we learned. Kai explained the different types of miso and shared little details about the food and culture that we wouldn’t have picked up on our own. Kai was kind, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Osaka!

Your FAQs

Is this a traditional tour or something different?

This isn’t a traditional tour with a fixed script. It’s a fully personalized day shaped around your interests, whether it’s culture, history, neighborhoods, or hidden local spots. Your host is a knowledgeable local, more like a friend showing you their city. It’s flexible, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to you.

How does personalization work?

After booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire where you can share your interests, travel style, and any must-see spots. Based on that, we’ll match you with a local host who’ll reach out to plan your personalized itinerary.

Can my experience accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes! You'll receive a questionnaire right after booking where you can note any dietary requirements, and your host will tailor the experience accordingly.

Are food and drinks included, or do I need to pay separately?

Unless stated otherwise, food and drinks are not included. Your host will take you to great spots where you can order what you like and pay as you go.

Do you have deals with restaurants or set food stops?

No, unlike traditional food tours, our hosts are free to take you to their personal favorite spots rather than fixed locations. This means your food experience will always be unique, with authentic and unbiased recommendations from someone who knows the local food scene best.

Can I change the meeting place?

Yes, you will be in touch with your host before your experience, and you can agree on a different meeting point with them. Your host can meet you anywhere central that’s convenient.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.
