Great guide, cool and unique gin distilleries that weren’t your typical mass produced gin distilleries, and great sights of the city to see along the way.

Doug was fantastic! He took us to some obscure and very cool gin distilleries and establishments, with some Edinburgh history woven in along the way. We really enjoyed the time walking around the city, and great conversation! Thank you, Doug!

If you are a gin lover, this is the tour for you and if you are really lucky you will get James as your guide. Once he found out where we were staying he adjusted to meet us at our hotel. We visited 3 great gin pubs and gained so much knowledge about how gin is made, the different blends, why it came to be in Scotland, and also learned a lot of Scottish history and culture along the way. This is a must do tour!!!!

What you’ll do

We know you’re in Scotland, but forget about whisky for a second – there’s another spirit that has been perfected here. By 1777, Edinburgh was already home to eight gin distilleries, and today this proud tradition continues. With a local gin-loving host who knows all about Edinburgh gin’s past as well as its present, you’ll get an interactive lesson in the history and production of gin that you might not remember in the morning.

Walk down the city center’s cobbled lanes between local and independent gin distilleries and bars, and learn about the different styles of gins and the botanicals that flavor them. Sample gins from Edinburgh and beyond while your local host shares stories about the surprising dark side of Scotland’s gin history...
