I have traveled for several countries in Europe and now I have been living in Portugal for almost 2 years, where I have been exploring its restaurants, night clubs, museums, historical spots and amazing Gardens and nature. I love showing people the new spots I have discovered! And I am super excited for people to experience Porto and Portugal as i have been!
My name is Mariana, i'm 26, and I'm a Portuguese writer. My field of study is tourism and i've worked as a guide before, i truly love showing my city to new people, let them in the traditions, the food and drink, the art, and everything that make Porto such an amazing city. If you are looking into knowing Porto beyond the touristic spaces and looking into the hidden gems and good beer, I'm your girl!
Regarding my city, the cousins of my grandmother were owners of one the most important Port Wine cellars called "Calem" and I visit those cellars very often and which gave me a great knowledge of Port wine. Porto is a very diverse and random city, with many contrasts, as one British tourist told me last year. I think the places that should be visited, and that are mandatory, are the city center, some main churches, the river Douro riverside until the river mouth and the nearest beaches. These landscapes all make part of the mix that Porto is. Religious past mixed up with rich and poor areas. And these make all part of the city center. Not forgetting, of course, the Vila de Nova de Gaia side with the Port Wine cellars. And about the food there are many places to go, it all depends on how much a tourist wants to spend. Speaking about city gems, there are many like the Lello library, the Clerigos tower, the Arabic Saloon in the Porto Commercial Association, and, of course, the many blue tiles churches all around the city center. Last but not least the views from the Louis I bridge that is quite nice (with sunset even more). So, as you can imagine, time is crucial to hitting the right spots because they are not all reachable in a snap. Let me help you make the most of your time in Porto!
I’m passionate about uncovering the hidden gems and sharing the magic of this beautiful city with visitors. What I adore most about Porto is the incredible street art scene - talented street musicians and performers are everywhere! The Douro River’s charming promenade, steeped in history, is a must-see. And don’t get me started on the rich heritage of Port wine. I love exploring Portuguese cuisine and its history, from the pastéis de nata that helped monks to survive to the 1000 dishes you can prepare with dry codfish! My favorite activities include catching breathtaking sunsets from Jardim do Morro, Ribeira, or Jardins das Virtudes. As a knowledgeable local, I know the best places to eat and drink, galleries, museums, theaters, and art cinemas. Let’s explore Porto together!
Such an amazing time learning the history of Porto. We were introduced to a ton of local spots we can visit in the future and we now have a friend we can reach out to in the future. It was a great experience.— Megan , Porto

My name is Cristina, I’m 26 years old. I am a Flight Attendant, I was based in Germany for the last 3 months but now I am back to Porto where I lived since I was born. I came back because I am not entirely happy being outside this amazing city for too long periods. I can't wait to introduce you to Porto and watch you fall in love with the place I call home. See you soon!
You will find great traditional cuisines in known places like Ribeira, and Mercado do Bom Sucesso, however, you will find the best places that are more traditional and grounded such as Taberna Santo Antonio, a very little restaurant in the city of Porto, which offer the best-fried sardine at a very affordable price. So while strolling around the large plazas of Cordoaria and nearby the Sao Bento station you will find places like that one with good prices and the best traditional food, local breweries, great cafés, and plenty of shops for souvenirs or popular brands as well. Surrounding Porto, you will find new upcoming bars, coffee shops, and even more local hearty places. I would also recommend Vila do Conde as a great up-and-coming county that is growing and has wonderful beaches and street markets. You will see forts like Sao Joao while walking at the beach walk while being offered many options to eat and enjoy the nightlife. If you are more of a wine person you can either enjoy wine tours right from the Ribeira Caves. While in the countryside I would recommend getting to see at least one of the traditional "Aldeias" or traditional villages. They are breathtaking! Overall Porto is a beautiful city with lots of offerings for families and friends, young couples and older couples. It is a retirement country full of culture, architectural buildings, parks, beaches, and restaurants.

Exploring new places and immersing myself in different cultures energizes me and broadens my perspective. I am here to ensure your experience in this remarkable city is nothing short of extraordinary. Let's embark on an unforgettable journey through Porto's rich heritage and vibrant streets.
