See the sights that put Kyoto on any traveler’s bucket list, like the wood-built streets of Higashiyama and the city’s nearby geisha district, Gion, where you’ll find lantern-lit izakaya and street entertainment. Explore ancient architecture – from the Kyoto Imperial Palace to hilltop Kiyomizu-dera – and see those less-frequented, like Yasaka Pagoda and its secret upstairs viewpoint. For a history lesson in central Kyoto, head to Fushimi and Nishijin – the old sake brewing and weaving districts – and visit centuries-old Nishiki Market for the city’s best street food. With your host, you’ll experience Kyoto’s popular pastimes – from watching the sunset over Kamo River to taking a 30-minute train ride north to the Kurama onsen, Japan’s natural hot springs.
You could sit down for a Kyoto’s famous uji green tea in the city’s best-kept secret, Rakusho teahouse, with views of the owner’s tranquil garden and award-winning koi pond. Perhaps catch a kimono show in Nishijin, sample sake at an old factory in Fushimi, or, if you’re visiting during spring, join in the tradition of a festive hanami picnic beneath blooming cherry blossoms in the botanical gardens. Explore historical Higashiyama, where narrow streets lead to shrines tucked between storefronts, and let the smells of street food lure you down Nishiki Market. As the sun sets, search for mesmerizing geishas in lantern-lit Gion, where winding down with your host over a multi-course kaiseki dinner or draft beer in an intimate izakaya is the perfect way to end a perfect day.

We had a great day in Kyoto with Juraj. I doubt we’d have been able to see as much in the time without his guidance and we certainly would not have had as broad an understanding of the places we visited. Definitely recommend this tour.
We always prefer to see a new city through a local's eyes and we were so lucky to have seen Kyoto through Taibi's eyes, He clearly loves this amazing city and in his company it was easy for us to fall in love with it too. Taibi had carefully planned a day that matched my wish list - Bamboo forest, tastings of fabulous food at the market, local restaurant for lunch, culture and history, natural wonders, and we packed as much into our day as was possible in the time. I had my hair pinned up geisha style and we tried on kimonos too. A brilliant host, lots of fun, great conversation and a truly memorable day. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you Taibi. This was the best day of our trip to Japan. Kyoto is a magical city with an enchanting mix of old and new.
What a fabulous experience with Taibi! His enthusiasm and energy made this tour so much fun. Taibi would.point out all kinds of things such as popular food/drinks, unique souvenirs, hidden tea spots, interesting. sculptures and landmarks, etc. He talked to people on buses and translated conversations, took us for walks along the water where only locals hang out. We sampled treats in markets. Taibi left us with recommendations and suggestions for the rest of our Kyoto stay. Taibi is fluent in Japanese and we communicated in English and French. I believe that he has Spanish skills as well. A “born” guide. 100% wonderful experience.
