The Kobe Port Tower, sweeping coastlines, fresh alpine air and the weird and wonderful of Chinatown.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll spend the day with one of our local Kobe hosts and discover the true nature of the city. If nature happens to be your thing, you’re in luck - there’s plenty of it - the city is wedged between sweeping coastlines and vast mountain ranges after all.
But that is not all there is to Kobe and with one of our awesome hosts by your side, even the most famous sights like Ikuta Shrine and Kobe Port Tower will take on new and authentic characteristics. Today you are not a tourist but an explorer (Indiana Jones style) so grab that explorer hat (maybe leave the whip at home) and get ready for adventure!
You might want to discover one of Kobe's eclectic neighborhoods, explore the thriving Kobe Motomachi Shopping Street, and indulge in authentic cuisine while soaking up the vibe in Nankinmachi, Kobe’s Chinatown.
Maybe you’ll discover hidden gems along the way, like the smaller shrines and historic streets that many visitors miss - but not you! Heads up - there are tons of weird, wacky, and fun places are hidden between the hotspots on your hit list that your host can’t wait to share with you.
You’ll have a blast together, we promise.

Kobe is not a bustling city when compared to others in the area like Osaka and Kyoto. Having a host that explores Kobe with you is really special. Lovely to go to the herb gardens to see the city from the top, go onto the longest suspension bridge in the world, eat magnificent local sushi, see the earthquake memorial site and even play pachinko! A wonderful day out.
Show moreIt was a delightful day. We started at the herb gardens. Once we sat down to share a drink and talk, it felt like a day out with a friend. By lunchtime, when we popped into a fantastic sushi place and drank local saki, it definitely felt like it. And our guide assisted with making a dinner booking at a Kobe beef restaurant. The day was just perfect, ending with him showing us how to play pachinko. Fun, insightful and all round a great experience.

Show moreRio, our guide was fabulous. He speaks perfect English. He lived in Ann Arbor MI for 9 years until he was 18. He picked us up at port and we went by local transportation. We saw some cool Kobe sights but best of all was Katani and synagogue where we spent about an hour with the rabbi and some. Congregants. A real rush while in Japan. Thanks Rio !⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
