Key Highlights:

  • Navigate Bologna’s porticoes like a local, whether wandering or window-shopping
  • Get the stories behind the Two Towers, or skip them for courtyard calm
  • Taste and talk your way through the Quadrilatero, Bologna’s historic market heart
  • Pause at Santo Stefano to take in centuries of layered history, or just the quiet
  • Discover local rituals, from chalk art to mid-morning wine breaks
  • Ask questions, change course, or stop where it feels right—this walk flexes with you
  • Leave with practical tips and personal favorites, not a checklist of stops

In after thought we should have booked for a longer tour. Antonio was great with the history, but it left us with little time to explore things like food and art. Antonio is a wealth of knowledge regarding Bologna and was a gracious host even when the skies opened up and poured rain down on us.

It was very different than what we expected but in a good way. To have 3 hours with a personal guide was invaluable. We would never have been able to duplicate on our own.

Our guide, Andrea, was welcoming, funny, and a true local, which made the experience feel authentic and personal. It was interesting to hear how his own family history and life in Bologna were woven into the tour, it really brought the city’s stories to life. Before the tour, we were able to email Andrea to tailor the experience to what we were most interested in, and that flexibility made a big difference. He even took us to some hidden, secret spots, we never would have discovered on our own. If you want more than just a standard sightseeing walk, something that feels personal, insightful, and genuinely local, this is the perfect choice!

Beautiful, pleasant, casual and intimate tour with Paolina today - even though it was raining the porticos served us well - we thoroughly enjoyed the historical facts, insights, highlights and some perspectives of the culture and foods development of Bologna and the region. Paolina really brings to point, to view things through a step back look Up look down look all around kind of perspective.. we almost felt like it was a bit of an exploration… we highly recommend…she’s a very passionate, personable and genuine soul!

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Is this a traditional tour or something different?

This isn’t a traditional tour with a fixed script. It’s a fully personalized day shaped around your interests, whether it’s culture, history, neighborhoods, or hidden local spots. Your host is a knowledgeable local, more like a friend showing you their city. It’s flexible, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to you.

How does personalization work?

After booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire where you can share your interests, travel style, and any must-see spots. Based on that, we’ll match you with a local host who’ll reach out to plan your personalized itinerary.

Will I see famous landmarks or just hidden gems?

Both! Your host will take you to iconic sights if you want to see them, but they’ll also introduce you to places and stories most travelers miss.

What if I don’t know what I want to explore?

That’s completely fine! Select an experience theme or a flexible discovery experience, and after booking, answer a few questions so your host can design the perfect experience for you.

Can I mix different themes in one experience?

Yes! You can blend food, culture, history, neighborhoods, or even a bit of nightlife if time allows. Just share your interests in the questionnaire, and your host will build the day around them.

Will I know my itinerary in advance?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to chat with your host directly and agree on a plan for the day. However, there’s always room for spontaneity and local surprises!

Can I request specific places or types of stops?

Yes! After booking, you will receive a questionnaire where you can highlight must-visit spots and anything else you’d like to include, and your host will craft your experience around them.

Can I adjust the plan on the day?

Absolutely. Your host can adjust the itinerary on the day based on your pace, energy, or any new ideas you have. It’s a flexible experience from start to finish.

What kind of stories and insights will my host share?

Each host has their own personal relationship with the city. You'll experience the city through their eyes—hearing stories about places they love, discovering hidden gems, and learning what makes their city special in a way that goes beyond a typical tour.

How much walking is involved?

This depends on the experience, but your host can adjust the pace to suit your comfort level.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.
