Kyoto is an amazing guide (yes his name is really same as the city). Very friendly and excellent English. Will customize Tour any way you prefer and work with your time schedule. Avoid the group tour mess - go with a private guide.

We had a great time with Michael. He is quite knowledgeable about the history of Edinburgh. He led us to some interesting places. He was quite knowledgeable about different gins and whiskeys. He introduced us to some interesting ones. He also gave us great recommendations during the tour and followed up with some others the next day.

The only way to see anything in Kyoto is with a private tour. Our guide (his name was actually Kyoto) was excellent. He managed to customized our tour perfectly to fit into the time and was knowledgeable of each area. The crowds at the shrines are very bad but our guide made it tolerable. Suggest you go early in the morning as we went late in the afternoon. That’s a bad time with all the older slow tourists and geisha dress up crowd walking sooo slow. Avoid that by going early.
