Embark on a day trip from Bangkok to the island of Koh Kret, explore markets and temples, savor street food, and discover hidden gems with a local.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Discover the man-made island of Koh Kret, a fascinating spot located just 45 minutes north of Bangkok in the Chao Praya River.
You’ll journey here with your local Bangkok host by water taxi, then spend the day immersing yourself in its unique island life - but it’s not all palm trees and coconuts. Home to the Mon community, one of Thailand’s oldest tribes, Koh Kret is famed for the traditional pottery-making skills of its people.
Explore the island’s culture, cuisine, and history as you flit between historic temples like Wat Salakun and Wat Phat Lorn, feast on spicy fish cakes served in banana leaf bowls, and shop the traditional markets for some pottery to take home.
8 hours would never be enough time to discover hundreds of years of history, but you’ll experience a taste of this unique way of life on your day trip upstream. Please note: The local market only takes place at the weekend, so to enjoy the full experience please request weekend dates.

Tom was great at helping me find pottery and the potters on Koh Kret Island. He has a wealth of knowledge to share along the way about Thai customs and people. We happily took different modes of travel through the city. He was especially able to answer my many questions about Buddhism, Buddhist customs and the differences with and overlap among Hindu and Animism beliefs so prevalent in Bangkok. Finally he was able to help me find vegetarian food when so much of the cuisine is meat-based. I enjoyed the day!
Show moreThe Legendary Kat was in fact awesome. It was like having a tour with a friend. She went at our pace, set the schedule per our tastes, and adjusted on the fly. We had a great time, and can highly recommend this tour package, and Kat in particular. For transportation and entrance fees, you need to have about B3000 to B4000 for a couple, extra for spending money, and of course tips!
Show moreWith only a short time in Bangkok, my friends and I decided to book a tour to get the most out of our time. We arranged a walking tour with City Unscripted Bangkok and were paired with a wonderful guide named Pakkard. She showed us her city and culture with enthusiasm and took amazing care of us. We saw so much in a short amount of time and left the experience feeling very fulfilled. We are extremely grateful to our guide, Pakkard, and City Unscripted Bangkok for their service!
Show moreChiara was a fantastic host in Tokyo. We gave her a wish list and she did a great job trying to take us to all the places we wanted to see in the most organized way. We loved Tokyo and she had everything to do with that. We were with her for 2 1/2 days. The half day was marred by the fact that it snowed so the weather made it difficult to see what we wanted to that day. Of course, weather is just something you have to deal with on vacation and we made the best of it.
Show moreKat brought us to all the places we wanted to see while being mindful of the heat and a person in our party with mobility issues. We absolutely loved Bangkok and we credit her with that. She spoke English well too.
Show moreWe had a walking tour of the main attractions in Bangkok. We started at the flower market , did a trip around the canal , had lunch and finished with the Gran Palace. Our guide, Buay was wonderful. Full of historical knowledge . I also wanted to buy some things and he took me to the store that had exactly what i wanted. Overall a great experience
