This was the beating heart of the famous movement La Movida Madrileña, a countercultural rebellion against the Franco era that welcomed a more modern and accepting Spain. This open-minded attitude is still what makes this district so special, and today it attracts artists of all kinds from the worlds of street art, music, and film.

The tour was great, Lisa has a lot of knowledge about the city and its history, and shared information which I would not have known if I had gone on my own. She was friendly and helpful too, and walked me to the Prado museum as she wanted to make sure I reached there safely, even though our tour had ended Definitely engage her for walking tours!

My husband and I had a wonderful walking tour with Marina. As first timers to Madrid, we wanted to get immersed in the culture and history. Marina was very thoughtful about the path we took, which encompassed a great variety. We especially enjoyed El Retiro and Las Letras. She also provided useful information for the rest of our trip. And lastly, Marina is such a lovely, engaging person to spend time with.
