Experience its complex character as you take in clean, modern architecture flanked by charming, traditional homes. There are many plush green spaces in Noord, home to various sustainable community projects – perhaps go find out what they are all about?
Your host will take you past the NDSM Werf, a former shipping yard turned gritty urban skate park, and stroll with you along the idyllic Noordhollandsch Canal (maybe stop in at Windmill D’Admiraal for a beer).
From the Pekmarkt flea market, which has a different theme each day (we can’t even coordinate our socks every day), to the wonderful local bistros, Noord is just one of those places that must be experienced and your host will have the know-how!

We took the 6 hour tour. Alan Lazar, our tour guide, took us around the city to places and neighborhoods we would never have found ourselves. He is extremely knowledgeable, is able to easily communicate with and friendly to be with. He gave us history and many local facts. We are both in our 70s and Alan kept the pace perfect for us. We saw beautiful canal houses, fabulous architecture and historical buildings. Alan explained everything we saw including many anecdotes. Along the way we stopped Winkles, the best cheesecake in town, a very local restaurant for lunch, a great Cheese shop and a chocolatier. Just what we wanted.
