From hidden cafes to secret stories, there’s more to Florence than meets the eye.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Florence may be Italy’s sun-dappled Cradle of the Renaissance, but there’s more to the city than ancient architecture and renowned museums. Your local host will lead you off the tourist trail to visit secret spots your guidebook doesn’t even know about. Michelangelo’s David may be a must-see, but did you think to explore the impressive Laurentian Library, his least-visited architectural work? Ask your host for recommendations at a cozy wine bar, then hear local legends of wine turning into blood at Cosimo Rosselli Chapel of the Sacrament. Peek behind the curtain into modern Florentine life at antique markets, and when your feet need a rest, head to charming hidden haunt Caffé Verrone – a cafe on a terrace that was once used to hang laundry.

Lots of hidden secrets. Very informative
Show moreJacopo was very informative and set a good pace to the walking tour. He took extra time with us showing and explaining details and historical facts. He showed us wonderful places to look at on our own and places to eat or stop for a refreshment. Jacopo was most accommodating to our needs and interacted with everyone in our group.
Show moreMy young adult grandchildren and I enjoyed a short, 2-hour walk with Marilisa to see some non-tourist sites in Florence. She definitely knows how to structure her walks for the interests of her clients. It was our last day in Florence, and she gave us some excellent suggestions for restaurants and activities for our afternoon.
Show moreIt was like meeting a friend, who was interested in you and your interests, and then shared interesting information about the city as we walked through different areas! Marilisa has an amazing personality, and is very knowledgeable about Florence. Her passion shined through and followed up with wonderful restaurant recommendations as well as other information to make our stay fabulous. Highly recommend Marilisa. She was the highlight of our vacation!
Show moreMartina was amazing! We had two teenagers with us and she really knew how to cater to her audience. All of us had a great time. She has a great personality and was very knowledgeable.
Show moreMarilisa is a bubbly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, art loving tour guide for Florence, Italy. Last June she gave my granddaughter and her friend, both 21, and me a thoroughly enjoyable morning walk through some lesser known, less touristy areas of the city. I would highly recommend her personally, and City Unscripted, and wouldn’t hesitate to use them for future travel adventures. Helen Franchois.
