What you’ll do

You’ll spend the better part of a day with one of our friendly local Bologna hosts in the terracotta-tiled, student-filled, food capital that is Bologna! No two experiences are the same, so tell your host what tickles your fancy, but also allow them to open your eyes to the authentic world of their home city.

You might begin your day with a shot of strong espresso in one of the coffee bars under the Portici (covered walkways) before ambling past an exquisite theatre to the city’s astonishing medieval Mercato di Mezzo. Or, perhaps the famous Piazza Maggiore and San Petronio Basilica draw you in?

If you’re feeling energetic, climb one of the Two Towers (Bologna’s icon) and enjoy a panoramic view of the medieval city center. Boasting the oldest university in the world, the energy in the student quarter is vibrant and palpable. Definitely check it out - then grab a large pizza slice for your troubles.
