Flit between Hungary, the Balkans and even enjoy a quick jaunt to the Middle East as you eat your way around Budapest’s unique cuisine with one of our local Budapest hosts.
You’ll discover rich flavors and ingredients that you will only find in Budapest as you sample cuisine deeply embedded in the city's culture; from authentic dishes of goulash to the street food staple of làngos, a deep fried bread dough topped with sour cream and cheese - sounds delicious.
Loosen your waistband (we’ve all been there) and sample your way through some of the goods on offer at Szèna tèr market or the Central Market Hall - whichever sounds more like your vibe - then wander (slowly, we’re in no hurry) along the cobbled streets of Budapest to discover local eateries where you can try traditional Hungarian dishes as well as one or two surprises.
You’ll see boulevards that are flanked with elegant bakeries of Viennese tradition, and satisfy your sweet tooth with Eszterhazy cake, kürtöskalàcs, a sweet golden brown, spiral shaped pastry or Rigó Jancsi - layers upon layers of chocolate mousse and sponge. Stop it, you’re making us hungry.

Balazs was a charming and knowledgeable host. We ate some amazing local foods and he shared on Budapest’s history and culture. Many food tours have meeting locations and limited starting times but with this tour your guide will meet you at the time and location that is convenient for you. I thought that was great. Balazs, thank you for introducing us to Budapest! We love your city!
A really interesting tour of the Jewish quarter with lots of history and a visit to an orthodox Synagogue. Richard was really excellent - tremendously knowledgeable and informative, perhaps not surprisingly, given that he has a degree in history. He even managed to read some inscriptions in Hebrew! Another excellent tour with City Unscripted following others than have been equally good and all very reasonably priced. I am a big fan and it will be my first port of call at any new city.
My guide was so great, he knows more history of Hungary than most teachers. He was kind, considerate & caring on a hot day in August 2019. I would do it all over again in a heart beat ! Thanks to you
Excellent guided City tour. Balaz was kind and knowledgeable. The Tour was well disposed and we had a lovely Day
