With a local insider to show you what it really means to eat like a local in Budapest, you’ll feast your way around two of the most iconic central neighborhoods. At the Central Market, try a classic snack of lángos, fried dough topped with sour cream and cheese, and discover traditional ingredients and the key to all traditional Hungarian cuisine - paprika!

But as well as iconic dishes like pogácsa, the locals' favorite of savory pastries, your host will take you to eateries and places where you could try the dishes that many visitors don’t taste, like körözött, the quintessentially Hungarian dip made with sheep’s milk cheese, and somlói galuska, an indulgent dessert of three flavors of sponge cake, walnuts, vanilla cream and chocolate sauce. 

You’ll explore the heart of Pest, on the left bank of the River Danube. In Nagycsarnok, or Central Market as it’s also known, your host will share the secrets of Hungarian cuisine with you, revealing traditional and unique ingredients like fehérrépa, a parsley root that you won’t find anywhere else!

From here, you’ll stroll through the center, past opulent Austro-Hungarian cafes where you could stop to try Eszterházy-torta, an elaborate torte made from layers of walnuts and vanilla cream. Finally, you’ll eat your way around the historic Jewish Quarter, with your host leading the way through the historic cobbled streets, and maybe even to the iconic ruin pub Szimpla Kert, where a FARMERS' Market takes places every Sunday.
