We had an incredible city tour in Kanazawa with our guide, Yuzuki. From the very beginning, the pre-trip communication was excellent, clear, responsive, and made everything feel seamless and well-organized. Yuzuki is a truly knowledgeable and engaging guide. He not only showed us the iconic highlights of Kanazawa but also took us to hidden gems we would never have discovered on our own. His insights into the city’s history and culture made the experience even more special. What we appreciated most was how attentive he was to our preferences, he thoughtfully included a lovely matcha and sweets break, which was a highlight of the day. Yuzuki gave us an unforgettable experience, and we highly recommend him to anyone looking to explore Kanazawa in a deeper, more personal way.

Our tour around Kanazawa was excellent. The tour was guided to any requests we had and Selda was very friendly and informative. We learnt so much, particularly about the Samauri and Geisha. Would definitely recommend.

Our private walking tour of Kanazawa was an unforgettable experience, made truly exceptional by our guide, Iku. As a lifelong citizen of Kanazawa, Iku’s deep knowledge of the city’s history and culture brought every stop on the tour vividly to life. One of the most memorable highlights was participating in a private tea ceremony, an intimate and beautifully conducted experience that gave us a meaningful glimpse into Japanese tradition. We also loved strolling through the historic geisha district and learning about its fascinating past, followed by a deeply moving visit to Hosen-ji Temple that left a lasting impression on us. The day continued with a peaceful walk through Kenroku-en Garden, where we were fortunate to see the plum blossoms in full bloom—an absolutely magical sight. Iku then guided us through the samurai district, sharing captivating stories about the history, traditions, and daily lives of the samurai families who once lived there. Beyond being incredibly knowledgeable.

What you’ll do

A rival to Kyoto as the historic jewel of Japan, Kanazawa is a melting pot of Japanese art, culture, and tradition. With your local host to help you squeeze in as many sights as possible, you’ll experience the perfectly preserved history of this gorgeous city. Entertainment district Higashi Chaya is a must-visit for anyone hoping to spot elusive, ethereal geisha, while a tranquil stroll through Kenroku-en, one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, should be on every bucket list. You could browse stalls at the 280-year-old “Kitchen of Kanazawa”, Omicho Market, and see the unique Oyama Shrine with its Dutch-style stained glass on the third floor, or maybe you’ll be content to spend hours at the impressive Kanazawa Castle, the historic seat of power of the Maeda samurai clan.
