A unique chance to experience the cherry blossom season's traditions like a local - the best sakura viewing spots, traditional eats, and a hanami
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
This is your chance to join an experience that's a cherished highlight for everyone in Japan, yet only a handful of travelers truly get to know. Led by a local guide, you'll uncover the cherry blossom season in Kanazawa, a time celebrated by all but shared intimately with few.
Begin your adventure at Kenrokuen Garden, where beyond the familiar paths, you'll discover secluded spots for the perfect serene moment under the cherry blossoms. Stroll along the Asanogawa River, where the flowering trees provide a breathtaking backdrop that even locals never tire of.
As you explore the storied streets of the Kazuemachi Chaya District, the intertwining of history with the beauty of nature is evident amidst the old teahouses and the spring blossoms.
While admiring cherry blossoms solo has its charms, the cultural richness truly unfolds with a local's insight. In Kanazawa, this immersion takes place in the vibrant “depachika”, the city's underground food markets, where together with your host, you'll choose an obento—a sensory feast often paired with sakura-themed sweets capturing the essence of spring.
The experience culminates with a hanami, Japan's traditional cherry blossom viewing picnic, in the picturesque but peaceful Gyokusen'inmaru Garden. Surrounded by blossoms and beneath the cherry trees, you'll fully engage with this festive springtime ritual, with each story and insight from your host enhancing the experience.
This adventure goes beyond sightseeing; it's an opportunity to live the Kanazawa springtime just as locals do — vibrant, full of joy, and embedded in tradition. You'll leave not just with photos, but with a deep understanding of why the cherry blossom season is at the heart of Japanese culture.

Show moreWe had the pleasure of having Rimiko san as our tour guide in Kanazawa. She is not only a professional and informative tour guide, but a kind, patient, and friendly person as well. While we did lot of walking and learning about the history of Kanazawa, she was always attentive to our desires. For a short 1-day trip, she did her best to help us get the most out of the city with perfect pace for our family of seven including two small kids. She also knows the best spots to get good photos for our memories and the pictures are a delight. I strongly recommend her to anyone wanting to see and experience Kanazawa. Thank you Rimiko san!
