Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
With a half-day to explore Hiroshima, why not begin with a ferry ride to Miyajima Island, where you’ll be able to visit the famed Itsukushima Shrine and the oldest temple in Miyajima, Daisho-in, built by one of Japan’s most famous monks. Also offering great views of the Seto Inland Sea, be sure to arrive with a fully charged camera. Cherry blossoms in spring and maple leaves in autumn also add to the magic of this famed temple site well worth exploring. Gallery Miyazato serves up traditional Japanese sweet sets that include the ultimate crowd-pleasers: Matcha and the famous Momiji Manju, perfect for an afternoon rest and a refuel in the inner garden.

I had the pleasure of having Kakusan as my amazing tour guide, a native of Hiroshima. He speaks English very well, knows his tour perfectly, and points out famous and unique spots for sublime photos. He gives great advice on your shopping and souvenirs, helping you save money and buy local and authentic items. Even when it comes to meals, he easily adapts to your taste and takes you to eat in typically Japanese restaurants. Take a tour of Hiroshima with him and you won't be disappointed!!!
Show moreI booked the trip a week before and almost immediately after booking, I was contacted by Kaku, a local from Hiroshima and our guide. Kaku kept in touch with me in the days leading up to the day of the trip, and provided a complete itinerary for the day, and asked if I wanted to persona8the trip in any way.. Even though I was slow to reply, I asked him the day before the trip if we could go to Miyajima at low tide. Kaku replied immediately and altered our timetable as needed. Kaku was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about the tragic history of Hiroshima bombing and the history of Miyajima. He knew good spots for food and for taking nice pictures throughout the trip. He also reminded me to take pictures. We also shared our interests and our life stories while walking. He was extremely kind and friendly, and it was like going exploring with a local friend. I highly recommend this trip as well as Kaku!
Show moreWe booked a private 8-hour tour for Hiroshima and Miyajima. Our guide was a local named Kaku. We booked a week or so in advance, and almost immediately after booking Kaku contacted me on WhatsApp to provide useful information about the tour and asked if we wanted to personalize the tour. Even though we only replied to him the day before the tour asking if we could get to Miyajima at low-tide. Kaku was quick to respond and accommodated our request. He was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about the history of Hiroshima, local spots for good food and drinks, as well as for photo opportunities of the sights. He was also extremely friendly and we talked a lot about our interests, culture and life in our hometowns. It really was like going for a walk with a local friend. We enjoyed everything, Hiroshima Peace Museum, Miyajima and the Itsukushima shrine, the food and the good conversation.

Show moreKen was highly knowledgeable about Hiroshima as he was a local. This made the experience personalised. It was very informative (and emotional). Ken also showed us to a little restaurant we would never have found without him, to try traditional Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki. It was a great experience! Highly recommend!
