What you'll do

If you think British food is boring, think again! Your host is here to reveal to you the classic dishes which will give you a taste of Britain, but not how you might have imagined it. From fresh, perfectly crisp and golden fish and chips to melt-in-the-mouth roast lamb with gravy, creamy regional cheeses like crumbly Cheddar to rich Stilton, you’ll taste the best of British. Let your sweet tooth run wild too, and indulge in a classic afternoon tea - perhaps you’ll have it the traditional way with scones, cream, and jam, or maybe you’ll go for quirky cakes and exquisite tarts. Visit an authentic pub, feast your way around two markets which sell the best of British produce and street eats and make your own mind up about British food!

Where you’ll go

You’ll begin your experience in the 1000-year old Borough Market, the city’s oldest food market which today is a hub for artisanal regional and international produce and gourmet street eats. Right in the heart of the London Bridge area, just south of the River Thames, this is where you can taste delicacies like award-winning roast meats - from one of the market’s top restaurants which also has a street food stall - regional British cheeses, and expertly smoked salmon. Then, you’ll make your way across the river to east London, and visit the east-end’s favorite fish and chip shop. You’ll explore the area around Old Spitalfield’s market, where you can stop for a pot of tea and cakes, or head to a real British pub for a pint of real ale!

Great food and great guide

We met our guide Bertie who was such a fun guy and he took us to try various typical British foods which were surpirsingly good! Of course we had fish and chips but we also discovered some other cheeses and foods we had never heard of! Bertie was so knowledgeable and funny and made this tour really fun! Thanks so much

The Full English

I enjoyed the visit to the Borough Markets, particularly seeing the fresh produce, cheeses and the freshly cooked items ready to eat. There was also time to see inside Southwark Cathedral and to take a leisurely walk past the Globe theatre and over the Millenium Bridge. Gianni, our, guide, showed us lots of interesting stalls and was patient when we stopped at any particular stalls that interested us. He also advised us about transport for the trip Eric and I planned to make on Saturday. The tour results in happy memories. I would recommend Gianni to other people planning to do the same tour.

Reviews for London

Discover Shoreditch, London´s Coolest Neighborhood

Maria provided a lovely, relaxed introduction to Shoreditch. We visited local markets (food, vintage clothing, art) and she pointed out fun historical tidbits all along the way. Very much appreciate her detailed review of my wishes for the tour - she planned the perfect morning! Highly recommend and would do another tour with her anytime!

Toured War Museum and Roman Ruins

My father is in a wheelchair and had specific places he wanted to go. I asked for a guide who could be sensitive and supportive of his needs. Ana Maria was fabulous! She knows the city, adjusts quickly to changing needs, and has a get-to-yes attitude. She helped me learn how to navigate the cultural and logistic issues of traveling around London and England. I am so glad that I reserved this tour - made the rest of the trip so much better in so many ways!

We loved this tour!!

This was a really great way to spend an evening in London. Our guide Anna was very engaging and knowledgeable. She works in marketing but we discovered she is a food geek in her spare time. It was great to feel a bit like Londoners for a few hours! This is exactly what we were hoping for. Soho is full of tourists but somehow Anna managed to scoop us away to eat and drink at a couple of eateries that other tourists didn't even consider. We tried a wonderful variety of small bites and drinks. and had a wonderful evening with Anna.
