What you'll do
Begin with the weird and wonderful main street where you’ll experience every local type, from mohawks to heart shapes shades, every hair colour imaginable and more, the people of Camden are creative in every way. This can be said of the buildings too, as you’ll see some quirky art installations, fantastic colours and eclectic street art, Camden really is a feast for the senses. Your Local Host could take you for a coffee in one of the lesser known arty cafes, for a gaze in at a couple of the fun thrift shops, or even try on some of the hundreds of fierce shades at one of the street stalls before you venture to one of London’s most iconic markets.
Within the market’s twisting tunnels there are hundreds of eclectic and personal stalls selling everything from handmade leather accessories to futuristic clubwear and vintage china trinkets. With so much choice on offer, your Local Host will know the best stalls to visit if you’re looking to treat yourself to a unique souvenir. The market is also home to some globally recognised street food, with all the new hipster trends from halloumi fries to handmade soda, you certainly won’t go hungry.
Camden is known as one of the most popular hangouts for all manner of celebrities and music stars, past and present, and your Local Host will be able to offer you some unique local insight into the legacy of the area. Your Local Host will also be able to introduce you to a few more of Camden’s sights too, from the iconic Camden Lock where canal boats still pass through, to the Amy Winehouse Memorial Statue.
As you’re starting to wind down for the day, why not stop off at one of the characteristic local pubs, renowned world over for their musical legacy. Stop for a drink in an iconic bar where Amy Winehouse played pool before she became famous, where Pete Doherty was kicked out (more than a few times) or where Jimi Hendrix played live back in the day, your Local Host will know the best pubs and bars to spend your time.
As the day draws to a close, why not stroll up to Primrose Hill and escape the crowds while enjoying one of the most beautiful views of the city? However, you spend your time in Camden, you’ll get to know your Local Host inside out, and can be sure to pick up some local knowledge and insights on how to spend the rest of your trip.
