What travelers think of our Japan experiences

Our guide, Kenta, is knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He showed us Gion District and Kenninji Temple in a two-hour tour. Because of my bad knees, he met us at our hotel. He grew up in the United States, communicating in English is not a problem at all. Highly recommend him!

I'll keep it short and simple. This was a very good experience. The guide was helpful and knowledgable. He had good communication skills and I would book with this company again.

Taiyo was absolutely wonderful and flexible with all our needs. He was knowledgeable and knew the area well. Due to COVID, the regular restaurants on the tour were not open so he needed to find new places to go. It seemed as though he was scrambling last minute to find places so some pre-planning would have been appreciated. He could have checked restaurants ahead of time to find places that were open.

Overall the tour was really fun. we went to some shrines and temples. We also went to a Fukuoka handcraft center and we ate some local food. It was a really enjoyable experience. Sato san catered the tour to our request and even gave my son nice surprises. It was very thoughtful of her.

What you’ll do

To see each one of Fukuoka’s attractions, you’d need weeks! But with your local insider leading the way, you can go on a whirlwind experience of the city’s most iconic central districts in just eight hours. Travel through time, from ancient temples and shrines, like Tōchō-ji and Kushida, to ultra-modern streets around Naka River, where you’ll join stylish locals sipping flannel drip coffee (a Japanese specialty) at hipster Cafe Bimi. See pretty, plum tree-flanked Tenman-gū Shrine in Dazaifu, where university students pray for good results (or join students in celebrating their results at a no-frills tachinomiya standing bar). Hungry? You don’t want to miss out on Fukuoka’s rich tonkotsu ramen – and your host knows the best place to get it.
