Liberty Square, night market fever, tranquil temples and copious amounts of street food.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll join one of our local Taipei hosts to hit the streets and discover for yourself exactly what makes the capital of Taiwan so unique. You couldn’t possibly see all of its must-see sights in just one day, so what we want is that you get an authentic feel for the place.
You might want to tick off some famous sights, like Bao’an Temple, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and Dihua Street, and let’s not forget that Taipei is all about street food. In fact, so entrenched is this daily ritual into the fabric of life here, that some apartments are built without kitchens - sample some pork belly buns and bubble tea to see why this would make perfect sense!
Taipei plays with a fusion of many flavors, both in its food and heritage - note the imported influences from Japan, Southeast Asia, and even America! Get to know your host and chat with them about what life is like in the capital. The day is waiting, and yours to command.

I had an absolutely wonderful day with Charlotte. It was my fourth and last day in Taiwan, and she took me to many places and I hadn't seen yet, and encouraged me to try the things I'd heard about but didn't know where or how to try. So we had tea eggs (hard boiled eggs marinated in tea) a type of fruit I've already forgotten the name of, and various nut and sesame and tea infused treats. We went to a traditional market, and I got to ask all my many questions, mostly: what is THAT? I have traveled in Asia before, to Japan and Singapore and Indonesia, but it was a luxury to ask all my questions. We went the beautiful Grand Hotel built by Chaing Kai-shek to receive his guests, and also to a lovely smaller temple, My favorite thing was that we went to a tea house to have traditional Taiwanese tea. The Makong Gondola was closed for maintenance this week, and there wasn't enough time to go up the mountain, but Charlotte found me a tea house in town. It was very soothing to have the tea demonstration and then sit and enjoy it. I highly recommend the experience. I also highly recommend this tour and Charlotte!
Show moreGreen was awesome!! He was so kind to bring our infant daughter a Taipei flag colored pinwheel and everything. He was very nice, did a great job leading us around the city - we had a great time walking all around Taipei!!

Show moreHad a great time with my guide. Ben was outstanding and knowledgeable. He tailored the tour to what I wanted to see and made accommodations based on some attractions not being open. Food recos were great...
Show moreAfter meeting Ben and being shown the sights of taipei, I have no doubt what so ever this is the only way to visit new places. No more coaches full of people. The personal guide is the way forward. My daughter and I were met at the cruise terminal by Ben, complete with umbrella as it was raining. We found Ben to be polite, knowledgeable, courteous and a pleasure to spend time with. Nothing was any trouble to Ben, we had a wonderful time together, ate great food, visited many place we would never have found and did it with a man who we could have been friends with for years. All in all a great experience. Thank you city unscripted and a bigger thank you to Ben who made out day in Taipei feel special.
Show moreWith a full 8-hr experience it could be a hit or a miss & I'm glad to have Josh Rice as my Local Host. He's such a FUN guy to be around so, it was a bonus for the entire trip! He showed up on time, attentive with the details and resourceful (i.e. packed an extra umbrella, powerbank for my mobile, even brought his camera since he knows I'm into photography). There were some missed because apparently he hasn't done this experience before and he doesn't speak Mandarin - whereas the places we visited were in rural areas so Mandarin speaking guide should be mandatory. But I really appreciated the effort he made by doing a thorough research and kept me well informed on the options l have. He also brought a local friend along for ease of communications. All in all it was a successful day!
