What you'll do

Kyoto is a cultural hub, and that means there’s plenty of art, architecture and history to immerse yourself in. Your host will lead you to landmarks like the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the most revered in Japan, where locals pray for safety and prosperity. But heads up - there are over 400 shrines and 1500 temples in Kyoto! You could visit Sanjusangendo, a magnificent temple that’s been around for nearly 1000 years, or Nijo Castle in Kimigyo Ward is another scenic visit, and it forms just one part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your Kyoto expert will keep you well-fed with local delicacies like mochi sweets and ramen noodles (with a fiery twist), plus all the matcha-infused treats you want!

Where you’ll go

All aboard this train to Kyoto, Japan’s cultural capital where the glory and majesty of the past have been immaculately frozen in time for all to see. You’ll join your local host to catch the bullet train from Osaka, a journey which takes only 15 minutes to cover 56km! In Kyoto, your host will lead you along picturesque pathways and cobbled streets which are flanked by historic buildings - which are protected by law - making it a far cry from the skyscraper-dominated metropolises elsewhere. You could wander the woods in Arashiyama, on the western outskirts, where bamboo thickets shroud ancient shrines, or you could find yourself enthralled in a traditional tea ceremony at the in Gion, Kyoto’s famous geisha district.

  • Visit Kyoto by train and spend 8 hours exploring its rich cultural history.

  • Skip the tourist traps and explore the real Kyoto with your expert host.

  • See famous landmarks and hidden gems all in the same day.

  • Taste local street food and delicacies at your host’s favorite spots throughout your tour.

  • Indulge in local mochi sweets at boutique stores. You can even take part in a tea ceremony if you want!

Great and efficient visit!

We stayed in Osaka only for a day before going to Kyoto and Brice was very helpful. Without him we wouldnt have been able to see so much of Osaka in so little time!

Osaka Highlights

We had a great visit with Brice in Osaka...he was a wonderful tour guide through the city. He was very knowledgeable about the’s history..and it’s culture. We wanted to see some tourist sites and some just normal neighborhoods and we got just that. We had a wonderful day!

Back alley local food tour

Akira was a perfect host and guide. We started local and we went really deep - seeing the side of Japan I have never seen in 12 years of visits! All the food places we went to were fantastic. Truly local and truly delicious. If you want to see and eat off the beaten path you should contact Akira.

Amazing Osaka

We met our guide Jenny and it was very easy and comfortable from the start. She showed us where certain shops were that suited our daughters quirky tastes. She showed us around the city, where to eat, shop and relax. It was a fun walking tour.
