Feel the rush from Fukuoka’s unbridled energy (or maybe it’s from the caffeine in your flannel drip coffee at Cafe Bimi). From stately Tōchō-ji and its impressive great Buddha statue to 1200-year-old Kushida, see the temples and shrines that put the city on the map – and the sights you couldn’t even find on a map. Stroll serenely through a traditional Japanese garden, or explore the city’s up-and-coming otaku scene at Marble Choco, a store dedicated to impossibly intricate dollhouse furniture. At dusk, as reflected city lights turn Naka River a thousand shades of neon, you might sample street food from the yatai (mobile stalls) popping up along Nakasu Island, or grab a vending machine ticket and cash it in for “umami” personified: Fukuoka’s famous tonkotsu ramen.
With your host as your own personal GPS, Google Translate and elite Yelp reviewer, you’ll be in good hands as you swivel your head from one LED screen to the other in downtown tech hub Tenjin, or weave through throngs in Kyushu’s largest underground mall. You could head to neighboring Daimyo, a hub of trendy twentysomethings, hip-hop culture, and cool cafes, or explore the buzzing city center – starting with a lazy stroll from the museum to the castle ruins in Ōhori Park, then heading further west into Nishijin’s tightly-packed traditional shopping street. Not quite ready to leave yet? You could pop to Japan’s tallest seaside skyscraper, Fukuoka Tower, just down the street for a sunset view to end all sunset views.

Masumi Endo was EXCELLENT. She was in contact with us via e-mail before the trip and was punctual, knowledgeable and flexible regarding itinerary on day of trip. We basically went on a FOOD tour of the city that was SO tasty and fun! On her own time, she came back with us on the subway at the "end of the tour time" to make sure that we got off at the right stop. Above and beyond the call of duty! Highly recommend.
This was my first trip to Japan and I loved it. I was particularly interested in Fukuoka’s live music scene and nightlife. My tour guide, Masumi, was excellent. She shared useful info about the city, and introduced me to some great jazz and rock venues. I was even able to catch a live concert, thanks to her recommendations. A very fun tour! Recommended!
My local guide, Jessica, was just a really pleasant host. She took all my interest into account and was very knowledgable about the places. I really enjoyed my time exploring Nazoin temple and Fukuoka tower with Jessica. This is a trip that I'll highly recommend to anyone who has only 1 day in Fukuoka.
The tour was nice. We were only in Fukuoka for a day so not much time to see a lot. Our guide took us to a local Ramon restaurant which was an eye opening experience. Walked around Fukuoka park which was a nice wind down after our flight from Singapore. Thank you very much.
I'll keep it short and simple. This was a very good experience. The guide was helpful and knowledgable. He had good communication skills and I would book with this company again.
Sato was ready with suggestions of things to do. I needed to some shopping and she had ideas and was ready with alternates as well. There was an amazing Ikebana exhibition (flower arranging) and that may not sound too exciting but it was first rate and quite beautiful. I wanted to have a local lunch and we stopped at a ramen place that was great. We also toured the fish market. A great 3 hours in Fukuoka!
Just because it’s not here doesn’t mean we can’t offer it.
