Haunting ruins, syruppy ice and a crypt with 4000 bodies (creepy but cool)
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
From the pillars of ancient Rome to the pockets of the city where old-school trattorias cozy up alongside no-frills standing bars, there's more to Rome than could be experienced in just two thousand years of history, let alone four hours. But with a local to help you make the most of your time, you’ll be able to experience a slice of la dolce vita. Flit between iconic landmarks and open-air markets in the heart of Antique Rome, or explore alternative districts flung across the outer reaches of the city, where glamorous streets like those radiating from the Spanish Steps give way to charmingly gritty lanes and alternative venues like Città dell’Altra Economia, Testaccio’s community hub for markets, events and art.

We had a wonderful tour in Rome. Our tour guide, Lu, was excellent and personal. She took us to different attractions including the more quiet side of Rome which was very different from the usual crowded places. The tour was tailored to our specific interests. I would highly recommend booking a trip with her!

Show moreWe had an incredible half-day private tour of Rome with Alessandra through City Unscripted. Our hotel was in the Jewish Ghetto, and Alessandra met us there, letting us explore that historic neighborhood before heading to Trastevere for a typical Roman street food lunch — a real treat for foodies! From there, we visited Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, Saint Ignazio Church (be sure to bring something to cover your knees and shoulders), the Pantheon (outside), Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and more. Alessandra’s knowledge and insights brought each location to life, and she was incredibly flexible — even suggesting a delightful uphill walk after lunch to take in panoramic views of the city. It was another highlight of the day and absolutely worth the effort, even in the summer heat. She went above and beyond by giving us dinner recommendations for that evening and breakfast spots for our last morning, which made our trip even more memorable. Spending the day with Alessandra felt like exploring Rome with a close family friend, joyfully sharing her love and deep knowledge of this beautiful city. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a local, insightful, and fun experience in the Eternal City!

Show moreLuca was more than qualified to inform our family about the sights and history around Rome. We began the tour as a guide-client relationship, however, by the end it was more like family. Luca is extremely knowledgeable and was a pleasure to have as our guide! Thank you again! ~VonHoene family
