What travelers think of our Italy experiences

Our guide (Daniela) was extremely knowledgeable about the sights and historical places of Naples. She was accommodating to our interests- best place for gelato and pastries the shopping area, the Spanish quarter. It was an extremely hot day but we weren’t rushed, it was our tour and Dan was so accommodating. On reflection it was great value for money as we saw lots and learnt lots about the fantastic Naples, the culture and history. Truly fascinating city.

Serena was our guide and she made the tour fantastic from beginning to end. She tailored it to our needs and was so knowledgeable. We sample the local food, heard about local culture and history. Serena’s passion for Napoli was infectious. We would highly recommend, even to teeenagers..our 14 and 16 year old loved it.

Benedetta met us at our hotel for a four-hour private walking tour of Venice. As a local (born and bred) Benedetta displayed a great deal of knowledge of the history and culture of Venice. We ambled around going where we wanted and seeing more besides. We’d opted for this tour on Day 1 of our trip, primarily to source inside knowledge of the sights to visit, how to avoid the queues and the best locations to eat/drink and take a ‘romantic’ Gondola ride. That evening we ate at a fantastic seafood restaurant (Al Colombo) in the quiet back-streets close to Rialto Bridge. The following day, we took Benedetta’s advice and headed to the quieter Jewish Quarter (Cannaregio) after a lovely Gondola ride in San Toma area. This tour was an excellent way to see the city at an easy pace and gain an insider’s knowledge of the city and its sights. Thoroughly recommended!

A quiet back corner behind one of Palermo’s grandest churches

Secret Palermo: Lanes, Shrines & Artisan Echoes

Skip the crowds at the church entrance and slip behind instead. This courtyard cloister isn’t promoted or preserved; it’s simply there. Students read in the corners, sunlight brushes faded frescoes, and locals pass through without pause. You can linger or move deeper.

Via Calderai, Palermo’s Fading Metal Street

A flickering glimpse of the city’s artisanal past

Secret Palermo: Lanes, Shrines & Artisan Echoes

This is Palermo’s old metalworkers’ street, slowly disappearing. You might hear the clang of tools behind open doors or see lanterns and hinges resting on ledges. A few smiths still welcome a peek. It is not on tourist maps and may not last much longer.

Giardino dei Giusti, Garden of the Righteous

An unsigned, silent garden honoring moral courage

Hidden near the old Jewish quarter, this unmarked garden honors those who stood up for others. Cypress trees frame stone plaques, and the space offers quiet for thought, not spectacle. Locals come here to sit and reflect. You may do the same.

Secret Palermo: Lanes, Shrines & Artisan Echoes

Largo Avellone, Palermo’s Devotional Lane

An ordinary street where faith lives in everyday ways

Secret Palermo: Lanes, Shrines & Artisan Echoes

At first glance, it’s just another side street. But look again. Behind glass, Marys stand watch. Rosaries hang from water pipes. Small candles flicker beside mailboxes. These aren’t museum pieces, they’re daily acts of faith, maintained by those who live here.

If you prefer to finish by the water, a short walk brings you to the promenade. It’s open, honest, and unfussy. Locals come here to relax, talk, or just watch the light change on the sea. You might sit, stroll, or simply breathe it all in.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Is this a traditional tour or something different?

This isn’t a traditional tour with a fixed script. It’s a fully personalized day shaped around your interests, whether it’s culture, history, neighborhoods, or hidden local spots. Your host is a knowledgeable local, more like a friend showing you their city. It’s flexible, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to you.

How does personalization work?

After booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire where you can share your interests, travel style, and any must-see spots. Based on that, we’ll match you with a local host who’ll reach out to plan your personalized itinerary..

Will I see famous landmarks or just hidden gems?

Both! Your host will take you to iconic sights if you want to see them, but they’ll also introduce you to places and stories most travelers miss.

What if I don’t know what I want to explore?

That’s completely fine! Select an experience theme or a flexible discovery experience, and after booking, answer a few questions so your host can design the perfect experience for you.

Will I know my itinerary in advance?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to chat with your host directly and agree on a plan for the day. However, there’s always room for spontaneity and local surprises!

Can I request specific places or types of stops?

Yes! After booking, you will receive a questionnaire where you can highlight must-visit spots and anything else you’d like to include, and your host will craft your experience around them.

Can I change the meeting place?

Yes, you will be in touch with your host before your experience, and you can agree on a different meeting point with them. Your host can meet you anywhere central that’s convenient.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.
