Explore this university city with fine Romanesque and medieval buildings and a stunning covered bridge on a day trip from Milan
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll join one of our local Milan hosts for a trip to Pavia for the day, an enchanting town steeped in history and culture.
With roots tracing all the way back before the Roman era, it will feel as if you have been transported into a whole other world where emperors and kings rule the land, and romantic Renaissance buildings are scattered between medieval porticoes and towers.
Sounds like a fairytale, we know. You could visit the 12th century Church of Santa Maria di Betlem, the Renaissance Visconti Castle, Pavia Cathedral, and the Romanesque Church of San Michele - which is where Italy's kings were once crowned - and explore the world-renowned University of Pavia.
It goes without saying that your host can’t wait to take you to a fabulous restaurant for lunch - just let us know if your style is more family-run osteria, or a Michelin starred restaurant.
This is your day and there are no rules, just a magical town to discover!

Our trip to Lake Como was amazing. Our guide Marco was the best. He was so knowledgeable and planned the trip so well. He kept us informed before the trip and was there timely and had everything planned. His choices on places to stop for coffee and lunch were excellent. It was a day to remember for sure!! Thanks Marco
Show moreSimona is a great host, very friendly and also knowledgeable about Milan history. I enjoy the tour very much!
Show moreOur tour guide, Bibi, planned a comprehensive and engaging tour of her native city. We saw both medieval and modern sites, with Bibi providing interesting information about each location. We took many fantastic photos! Bibi is a great tour guide: she is pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, and flexible. A member of our group was bothered by a foot injury. Bibi graciously modified the walking pace and made some minor changes to our itinerary. ( I especially enjoyed riding the subway!) Bibi is the best!
Show moreMassimo was very knowledgeable and engaging. We learned a lot about Milan’s history.
Show moreOur guide Pritika was great. She had a wealth of knowledge about Milan. She let us lead the pace of the 6 hour walking tour. We stopped half way at a really nice restaurant. We had another break in the afternoon as well. She also recommended a restaurant for dinner. The Cathedral was stunning. We also visited the fascinating church of bones, amongst several other equally stunning places.
Show morePritika was an excellent tour guide of Milan! She made sure to clarify what our likes/dislikes were and she made sure that our needs were met. She’s so pleasant to interact with, the 6 hour tour flew by! We definitely recommend Pritika for anyone wanting a great adventure in Milan!!
