Joel is a very good personal guide. Arranging for this private tour was one of the best decisions I have made while traveling. I owe that sentiment to Joel as he went all out to ensure I was comfortable as well as informed. In fact, the weather was not with us for our tour and had to deal with the rain. But Joel, the professional that he is, used his creativity to ensure I was able to see as much as I could. He was courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, and engaging. It was the best day I could have expected given the weather. I would like to have more tours with Joel when I return to Munich.

Our guide, Anna, provided so much of the back story behind the many things to see in the old town of Munich. Even the places we had seen in earlier explorations gave us a much higher level of appreciation. Anna was engaging and considerate of all our requests. She took us to places well known to locals but would be missed by visitors. Things worth buying and things way overpriced. Our 4 hour tour was over before we knew it and we certainly got our money’s worth. Thank you Anna.

What you’ll do

You’ll join one of our local Munich hosts to go back in time (figuratively, we haven’t worked out how to do it literally yet) and discover the city’s history.

This is not your average history lesson though; forget struggling to keep up with names and dates, your host will show you the city’s history instead, as you visit the Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus, the Baroque style Nymphenburg Palace and darker aspects of its past as you visit landmarks associated with the rise and fall of Hitler and Germany’s Third Reich, like the building where Hitler first joined the Nazi party and the former Gestapo headquarters.

Having a host by your side will bring these spots to life, and you’ll hear some unique stories that only a local would know. If you’re interested in one period in history or you’d like a more broad overview, just let us know and we’ll do our best to make it happen!
