Discussing politics at the dinner table might be a no-no, but here in Brussels with your local host by your side, you’re free to ask whatever you want! Walk and talk your way through the buildings that surround the headquarters of one of the most powerful political institutions in the world - The European Union.

You’ll get to stroll through the lustrous Cinquantenaire Park and along Montgomery Street, soaking up the atmosphere in the city’s most luxurious area. A fitting way to start before diving into the political history of the city and the buildings you’ll soon spot.

In the European Quarter you could brush up on your EU knowledge at the Parliamentarian, or simply gawk at the shiny glass buildings and modern highrises that house the EU institutions. We love a surprise though, so you’ll get to experience a whole neighborhood which you’d never have known existed.

Forget Europhiles and bureaucracy - in Matonge, a district literally next to the European Quarter, you’ll find batik shops, Congolese restaurants and vibrant bars. And your experience is incomplete without taking the Metro to see the iconic Atomium. It’s weird and wonderful - exactly why we like it!

  • Spend 3 hours deep in European Union history, with your host who shares your passion for politics

  • Experience the European Quarter your way

  • Dive into the political history at Parliamentarian or take it all in as you stroll through the beautiful Cinquantenaire Park, go at your own pace with your host by your side

  • Discover hidden gems within the city through a local lens - you’ll explore a vibrant neighborhood known for its Congolese restaurants, quirky bars and batik shops

  • Enjoy a Metro ride to see the iconic symbol of Brussels, the Atomium

  • Get a few recommendations from your host about other ways to indulge in EU history.

Reviews for this experience

Private experience in Brussels was wonderful!

Mr. Andrea Mogni is a wonderful host! I booked at the last minute (the night before) but I feel like my husband and I were so lucky to have Andrea as our host. He is Italian but has lived in Brussels for decades working in the EU as an economist. He has a wealth of knowledge that is unbelievable- history, language, economics, politics, art to name a few. We got to see all the major sites in a very organized way. As other reviewers have noted, he took us into some of the historic hotels where we saw things not often seen by tourists that were very interesting. We have traveled around the world and I would say that Andrea is one of the best guides we have ever had. I highly recommend Andrea!

Reviews for Brussels

A great introduction to Brussels!

Exploring Brussels with Michael was a GREAT way for us to see as much as possible in the short amount of time we had. I have to say, from the booking process to the pre-tour communication, to the flexibility of last minute changes to our itinerary, to the tour itself, this was a wonderful way to see Brussels. Michael was a great host and took our wish list and our interests to heart and we had the best time in all the touristy highlights which were not to be missed as well as the "off the beaten path" local spots well worth the time to visit. And....I must say the CHOCOLATE was AMAZING (and surprisingly did make it home!!) Thank you Michael for the wonderful experience!! Until next time...

Discover Brussels with a Host

Ricardo
