Sydney’s attractions may be too many to count, but with eight hours and a local insider, you’ll easily squeeze in 20 of them. After a quick coffee in upmarket Paddington, cut through historic Hyde Park on your way to the sun-drenched streets and fizzing fountains of Darling Harbor, home to the tranquil Chinese Garden of Friendship. You could take the ferry across sparkling waters to Circular Quay and the iconic Sydney Opera House, and stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens, an oasis in the heart of the city. Even better, you’ll discover your host’s hidden gems that don’t feature in your guidebook – like the affluent suburb of Kirribilli, where a secret fish and chip shop at the base of Harbor Bridge offers unrivaled views across the bay.
From crystal clear beaches and sprawling parks to the odd jewel-toned parrot flapping overhead, nature takes center stage in Sydney. In the sunny CBD, amble up Australia’s oldest street, George Street, past historic buildings like St Andrew’s Cathedral and the Queen Victoria Building, and burst out the other side at The Rocks, where cobbled alleyways in the shadow of the Sydney Harbor Bridge lead to some of the city’s oldest pubs. Just five minutes away, hop on a quick ferry west to Cockatoo Island where you’ll discover fascinating landmarks harking back to Sydney’s convict and maritime history, then head east across the water to the golden sands of laidback Manly Beach for a cocktail and a couple of bar snacks with your new best mate (AKA your local host).
Let your local host lead you by foot, metro, and ferry through Sydney’s most famous districts
Discover 20 of Sydney’s top attractions (with a couple of local twists for good measure)
See Australia’s oldest street or visit the historic Cockatoo Island, if you’d like
Explore Paddington, known for its trendy cafe culture and upmarket boutiques
Have your local host on hand to give tips and recommendations for the rest of your trip over a quick meal of fish and chips

Malcolm was an amazing guide. He took us from the Radisson Blu Plaza to the Art Museum on the pier. Statue of William Bligh, looking at the Rocks and sandstone buildings. We walked the bridge to Dawes Point, learned about Ft. Dennison built to defend against the Russians who never came. We learned the history of the bridge and construction, the four economic sources for Australia and the history of Luna Park. We viewed some interesting artwork as we walked along Barangaroos new parkway and learned the aboriginal history of the area. We walked to Darling Quay and saw the variety of buildings and businesses there. Took the red line to the Fish Market and learned about its history. We then retraced our steps after returning from the Fish Market and returned to the Radisson Blu. Wonderful experience from the eyes of a native!
We booked a full day tour in Sydney to help us get oriented in the city and with the transportation system quickly so we could maximize our remaining days in Sydney. It was Peak’s first tour with the company and he did an awesome job customizing the tour to our unique requests including finding an awesome easy to access SCUBA diving center, a vegan restaurant for lunch, and many off the beaten path photography opportunities. At the end of the day we felt comfortable using the train and ferry system. Thanks Peak! You’re awesome.
Is a good choice being with someone that’s local and know the area. The spots, things to do and so in function of what you want to do. Gave you a sense of security and freedom, they are friendly and looking to fulfill your expectations. It was my first time at Sydney my first language is not English and the local was very comprehensive. We did several spots in the area that it could take a little bit longer if I would do by myself.
Peak was a fun guide. He conducted a TON of research before our trip and individualized our experience! What a beautiful park and an extraordinary hike—Figure 8 pools!!
Malcolm, our guide, met us by the ship and took us on an amazing travel experience. We went by ferry, light rail, and walking tour throughout the city. Not only did we get to see and taste much of the city we learned much about it as well. One of the definite highlights was the Fish Market. We booked this on Viator and loved it!
John met me at my Airbnb in Redfern and headed off on the train to Circular Quay. John shared some of the history and great places to take photos, my main reason for hiring a guide. We saw all the main sites and some out of the way places. John went above and beyond to orient me to the city.
Just because it’s not here doesn’t mean we can’t offer it.
