What you’ll do

You might not be throwing a couple of shrimp on the barbie, but you’ll taste some of Sydney’s favorite dishes. Seafood is a must, whether you enjoy salty, crispy fish and chips, tuck into a selection of super-fresh sashimi, or indulge in local Balmain bugs (a species of lobster native to Australia).

You’ll follow your host into a small deli filled with artisanal producers to sample – and stock up on – tapenades, bread, oils, and delicious relishes, and visit a wine distributor or a tiny heritage bar to taste some of the finest blended wines and craft beers. And if you’re keen to try Sydney’s take on international dishes? Thai or Indian-tasting plates are always a good idea before strolling down the harbor, Jaffa gelato in hand.

    We had a great experience with our guide, Olivia. We had a food tour with various stops. She was knowledgeable and gave us exactly what we were looking for- an opportunity to see not-so-popular dining establishments while getting a great lay of the land in Sydney. She was easy to talk with and answered our questions. She had a good knowledge of history and lots of insider tips on shopping and eating that we utilized for the remainder of our trip.
