He helped me see parts of Hoi An I otherwise would not have as we went on a bike tour as well which was greatly appreciated as it got me into the real Hanoi including rice paddies and local areas. I was in Hoi An right after Tet and Cam actually suggested pushing back our tour as much as possible so that more places would be back open. I'm so glad he did since I think I would have missed out on a lot of great food otherwise. Cam was so fun to be around and we covered a lot of ground in Hoi An. He introduced me to so many foods and we were even able to skip a very long line at one of the spots we ate at so I felt like a VIP. We had a fantastic time walking around and I got to learn a lot about Hoi An and Vietnamese culture. I left both very stuffed and with a lot of new knowledge on Vietnam. It was a wonderful way to end my time in Hoi An. Cam even gifted me a little packet for new year that was such a special touch.

Spending a half day with Hillary was an awesome introduction to both Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam as a whole. We were there the day before Tet so a lot of things in the city were closed or not operating as usual, but Hillary was still able to put together an awesome itinerary for me and my friend. The breakfast spot she took us to was something I'll be talking about for a long, long time. We wandered through some of the main parts of the city and even ended up seeing a few lion dances. She gave us great recommendations for silk shops and other restaurants that we absolutely took advantage of during our time there! Hillary was so fun to be around, so knowledgeable, and took great photos of us. We didn't feel like we were missing out at all even though many parts of the city were quiet for the holiday. We ended the day with incredible egg cream coffees and could have easily spent the rest of the day hanging out with her. Cannot recommend booking a tour with Hillary enough.

Unless stated otherwise, food and drinks are not included. Your host will take you to great spots where you can order what you like and pay as you go.

Do I need to pay for the host's food or drinks?

No, if you and your host decide to stop for food or drinks during your experience, you don’t need to cover your host’s expenses—your host will take care of their own.

Can my experience accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes! You'll receive a questionnaire right after booking where you can note any dietary requirements, and your host will tailor the experience accordingly.

How much walking is involved?

This depends on the experience, but your host can adjust the pace to suit your comfort level.

Do you have deals with restaurants or set food stops?

No, unlike traditional food tours, our hosts are free to take you to their personal favorite spots rather than fixed locations. This means your food experience will always be unique, with authentic and unbiased recommendations from someone who knows the local food scene best.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your experience will still go ahead, and your host will adapt the day to suit the conditions. One of the great things about City Unscripted is that no two experiences are the same, and your host knows the city well enough to find great “rainy day” alternatives.

We had a wonderful time with Selda. She was very flexible in going off script as we were running late after a morning at Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. She adjusted our itinerary to include a stop at the Omicho Market which was great since she lives locally and knows all of the best eateries! We then went to the samurai district where we visited the homes of former samurai including one with a nationally renowned garden landscape. Selda had a wealth of knowledge both of local culture as well as samurai history. We highly recommend Selda for an enhanced experience when visiting Kanazawa!
