Get a taste of ancient Japan in Kamakura. Marvel at the iconic Great Buddha, visit beautiful shrines and temples and stroll around the bustling town
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Our hosts are experts at navigating the intricate and priceless architecture of the area, ranging from flame-colored torii gates that mark the entrances to shrines to magnificent Buddhist temples swarming with locals and tourists alike. Kamakura’s crown jewel is the Amida Buddha at Kotoku-in, forged from bronze and exposed to the elements of this curious city.
Surf culture thrives here, and you might want to grab a brew and throw a shaka at one of the local shacks before delving into the fascinating history of Japan’s first feudal capital. Forest hikes allow you to reconnect with the earth, and morning meditation sessions are the best remedy for a busy mind. After all, this is where Buddhism took root in Japan.

We had the absolute pleasure of touring with Toshi, and what a fantastic experience it was! Cheerful, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable, Toshi crafted a perfectly timed itinerary! He taught us how to navigate the Japanese rail system with ease and gave us tips for our next day's adventures too! Kamakura itself is a stunning town filled with serene temples and majestic shrines and Toshi brought the history to life with fascinating stories (including some alien theories! Lol!). Traveling in the summer the heat can be intense, but Toshi was wonderfully patient, allowing for café pit stops so we could rest and recharge. As Muslim travelers, we truly appreciated the extra care Toshi took in finding a Muslim-friendly restaurant. Thanks to him, we got to try the famous Whitebait Fish with Rice absolutely delicious and something I still think about! If you're headed to Kamakura, touring with Toshi is a must. You’ll laugh, learn, and leave with unforgettable memories!

Show moreI can not recommend this tour enough. It was made spectacular by our incredible tour guide, Firas. He was informative, helpful, accommodating and felt like family by the end of the day. Be warned there is a lot of walking but the sights are amazing and original. Thanks, Tamiko Ueda Heuer.

Show moreWe wouldn’t have been able to navigate the transportation by train&bus to Kamakura and the walk to attractions ourselves with a toddler and baby in tow. Amir showed us the way seamlessly. He also brought his wife as extra help and both were great with my toddler. They were patient with our slow pace, helped us take our pictures, and brought us to a really good lunch spot.
Show moreMarik was top shelf, I don’t feel like I hired a “guide”, but rather I made a new friend who just happens to know how to get around.
