Myself and my wife had a half-day private walking tour with City Unscripted, hosted by the excellent Mr. Scott North. I would not normally leave a review, either good or bad, but I felt Scott’s knowledge, enthusiasm and friendly manner really deserved a mention. Scott was very informative without overwhelming us with information, and his knowledge of the city and its history was clear throughout the tour. He was also very approachable and happy to answer our questions, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal rather than like a standard guide or someone just doing their job. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Scott and came away having learned a great deal while also seeing the city from a more local perspective. He was a pleasure to spend the morning with and we would have no hesitation in recommending him to others. If you are going to book a walking tour in Kyoto you wouldn't go wrong asking for Scott. Thank you Scott, for making our visit such an enjoyable one.

Kay Arakawa was our tour guide to take us from Tokyo to Kamakura. It was a 9-5 pm tour. We had so much fun visiting all the main areas and learning about them. He pointed out important information, that otherwise we would missed. Kay is fun, knowledgeable all thing Kamakura, relaxed and a great tour guide. If you want to focus on enjoying the scenery, Kay will take you to all the places you don’t want to miss in Kamakura.

We had an absolutely wonderful tour in Japan with Kay. It was the perfect mix of everything we had hoped for. Step by step, we learned about Japan’s history while visiting different places around the city. We wandered through local markets and tried all kinds of little local specialties. We definitely wouldn’t have noticed or tried many of them on our own, so it was great that Kay introduced us to them. It gave us a much deeper insight into the local culture and everyday life. The whole experience felt like visiting a good friend who was showing us around their city. We visited not only shrines, temples, and markets, but also some beautiful traditional gardens. The tour was very relaxed, so we were able to learn a lot while also simply enjoying the atmosphere and taking everything in. It was a very interactive tour and the perfect combination of interesting historical information and authentic cultural experiences — from trying delicious local food to learning about traditions and getting little glimpses into everyday Japanese life. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan!

We had a fantastic private tour of Edinburgh with Colin. He was personable, entertaining, and incredibly knowledgeable, with a wonderful sense of humor. He took the time to learn about our interests and tailored the tour especially for us, combining Edinburgh’s fascinating history with medical history, and many hidden places we never would have discovered on our own. Colin showed us quiet closes, secluded gardens, and lesser-known corners of the city, explaining the history and stories behind each one. His passion for Edinburgh was obvious, and his storytelling made the city’s history come alive. The tour never felt rushed or scripted—it felt personal, engaging, and truly unique. This was one of the highlights of our entire vacation. We would highly recommend Colin to anyone who wants to experience Edinburgh beyond the usual tourist attractions.

Our tour guide, Jon, was so nice! He communicated with us really well before our tour. You could tell he was very passionate about his home city of Bologna, Italy. He had a lot of knowledge about the history and culture of the city. The pace of the walking tour was great and he checked in with us to see if we wanted to stop to eat anywhere or get a drink. His English was also really good since I don't speak any Italian. We would definitely go back to Bologna to see more!!

The experience with Valmi was excellent! She was prompt, kind, fun, and very generous with her time and talents. We received so much detail on Florentine history and culture. It was a highlight of our trip and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to tour with Valmi.

Ada took us on an "off the beaten path tour" on our first day in Kyoto. We got to visit Ginkaku-ji Silver Pavilion right when it opened and beat the rush. From there, she walked us through lesser known temples and shrines where we were the only visitors in sight, and explored the quieter neighborhood streets of Kyoto. Ada was very informative and we greatly enjoyed her knowledge and company! Highly recommend her for any tour in Kyoto!

Paolina was an amazing guide! She was very friendly, super knowledgeable and so easy to spend the afternoon with. She took me all over Bologna. We hit all of the highlights, saw places others might miss and she let me in on secrets only a local would know. I finished the tour fully ready to take on Bologna and made a wonderful friend in the process. I highly recommend Paolina! Thanks for everything!!!

It was so so nice to have George show us around Athens! We took the 5 hour walking tour and as we knew very little about Athens (other than we needed to see some of the famous ancient sites) we were totally in his hands…and he didn’t disappoint! George was Knowledgable and took us on the lesser-trodden routes. We talked music, politics and history; we walked the usual tourist trail and perused hidden gems including the cemetery looking for the graves of the famous & infamous!! We would highly recommend George!

George is the perfect host who is very personable and easy to get along with which made for a productive walking tour. I was able to personalize the walk to my taste thus enabling me to capture the places of interest that I wanted to see. George led me off the tourist path and showed me many hidden gems along the way. I wanted to have a bite at a restaurant away from the popular areas and I really enjoyed the food at the restaurant suggested by George. Overall I had a very good experience and would highly recommend him as your host.
