I love to tell the story of Josephine Baker (who Earnest Hemingway described as "The most fabulous woman who ever lived") performing for three nights in Lisbon during WWII - while working as a spy for the Free French and Americans!
Alex led a wonderful tour for 7 of us. He had a huge base of local and Portugal knowledge that he was happy to share with us.
Show moreAbsolutely amazing day. Our tour guide Alex was the best ever who has so much knowledge and passion for the city and its history it just added to our experience. My husband is in a wheelchair, and Alex had walked the route he was planning to take us the day before to check it was all accessible. Can’t recommend Alex enough. I’m Ricardo, a Lisbon local who never gets tired of this city's incredible light, rich history, and, of course, the amazing food. I love uncovering hidden gems—whether it's a family-run tasca with the best seafood or a quiet, off-the-beaten-path spot to soak in Lisbon’s charm. You’ll often find me wandering through Mouraria, Alfama, and Bairro Alto, always on the lookout for great food and untold stories. If you want to experience Lisbon like a true local—eating well, discovering secret corners, and feeling the city’s unique contrasts—I’d love to show you around! Obrigado
Ricardo provided a phenomenal private walking tour for our group. We appreciated his knowledge of the city and professionalism. Would highly recommend!— Steven , Lisbon
In 2018, I moved to Lisbon, and I have loved every minute of it! I work as a Financial Manager, but I also have a part-time job as a Sports Statistician Reporter. Currently, I live in Costa da Caparica, one of the closest beaches to Lisbon. I believe Lisbon is a very special and unique location, with lots of history, old and new, and a very strong cultural identity. I love to explore the city and its narrow streets and find new flavors and new people on each corner. Food and drinks are definitely among the strengths of the city, and I am a big fan of both! Nightlife is also a very relevant aspect of the city. There is nothing better than to explore Bairro Alto or Cais do Sodré, two of the typical neighborhoods of Lisbon, looking for the best jam to dance to or the best place to relax with your friends. There are also big musical, cultural, and sporting events that keep the visitors occupied all the time. I am a big fan of Sporting Clube de Portugal, and I love to attend football matches at the Estádio José Alvalade. The weather is, obviously, one of the big strong points of Lisbon, with lots of breathtaking beaches scattered all around the region, with Costa da Caparica being one of the most famous. I think I can be a very good host because I am an extroverted person, I have a very good general knowledge, I love to teach people the things I know about my country, and I think I can give visitors a different experience and show them things they wouldn't normally see in the common tours around the city. I bet I can find some excellent Instagrammable places for those who are interested!"
I'm Francisco :) I´m a local guide, born and raised in sintra. I heard many legends about mysticism, secrets and sintra stories. Later I joined a group in sintra and deepened my historical knowledge and the Portuguese spiritual tradition linked to the Templars and Cathars. The passion for history comes from my father, a history teacher. Now, I'm responsible for showing the bases of the Gnostic/alchemical ritual in a guided view of Sintra and Quinta-da-Regaleira, and the keeper of the first door to sintra spirituality. "only on the pilgrim's path will you discover a hiden world"
Jaime has been wandering the world in a long journey that has driven him to Lisbon over and over again. A city that has to be discovered step by step, following a river of intoxicating beauty, and listening to the voice of its inhabitants, sometimes wild and fierce, some others, mild and smooth.
Everywhere I go I will always have a trivia to share or will try to get people into having a bite in a local restaurant or to look at a place in a different angle. I do believe places are made of people crossings and mixes - Lisbon is a tale a of cultures around centuries. Whenever I travel, I try to make sure I get to know locals and interact with them, so it would be my pleasure to show "my places" to someone who doesn't know Portugal as I do. At the present moment, I work as a documentary photographer for one of the parish councils in the city hall, so my main day-to-day functions envolve walking around town photographing events, landscapes and cultural and political gatherings, making my knowledge about Lisbon to grow further.
I'm a kind, friendly, open-minded person who's always up for an adventure. What I love most about Lisbon is the weather and the colors of this vibrant city. The warm sunshine and the bright pastel buildings create an atmosphere that just can't be beaten. And let's not forget about the panoramic viewpoints and the amazing food and wines - Lisbon truly has it all! When I'm not showing off the city's best spots to my guests, you can find me chasing sunsets or taking a swim at one of the nearby beaches. As a Lisbon expert, I know all about the city's history and tradition, but I also love exploring its alternative spots off the tourist path. Whether you're looking for hidden street art or secret local bars, I've got you covered. Let's discover the city's hidden gems and experience its vibrant culture together!
