Experience Amsterdam’s incredible beer scene with a local visiting a few of the city's best breweries and sampling some of the best Dutch beers
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Happily sandwiched between the beer-loving nations of Germany and Belgium, it’s no surprise that the Dutch know a thing or two about brewing! Join one of our hosts on a personalized experience of Amsterdam’s most famous brew houses, as well as some of the smaller, unique microbreweries.
The city’s beer heritage dates back to the 15th century when monks and nuns were the primary brewers of the golden nectar. We know, bizarre.
Together, you and your host will wander (not stagger) from a brewery situated in a windmill, to another placed in a former bathhouse. Along the way, your host will suggest yummy eats at local pubs to accompany your beer drinking.
Feel free to engage them on the finer points of Amsterdam’s beer heritage and perhaps stop by at the original Heineken building in the city center. You’ll finish off your day in a trendy craft beer bar where your host will help you choose from the hundreds of Dutch beers on offer.
If you’re having a good time (which we’re sure you will be), pull up a chair and stay awhile when your experience finishes. There are bound to be more tipples to tickle your taste buds!

We really enjoyed spending time with Wendy. Wendy is very knowledgeable about the Amsterdam history and pointed out many historical places and events. The beer, of course was delicious! She went out of her way to make our beer tour the best! Thank you Wendy...
Show moreMy first trip to Amsterdam was for business and lasted only a few days. For this second trip I wanted to make sure I experienced more of what Amsterdam has to offer. Especially since on this occasion I would be celebrating my birthday. I have used City Unscripted before and chose to use them again because I certainly enjoy the 1:1 nature and personalization they put into their tours. On this instance I chose a Beer Tasting tour and I was matched with Alan for a 3 hour excursion. Given the purpose of my visit it definitely felt it appropriate tailoring my tour around beer but Alan made it far more than that. He truly went above and beyond the description of the tour I purchased. While there was beer along the way as I requested, Alan masterfully crafted in all the historical anecdotes, stories of Amsterdam's past, and more importantly hidden gems a larger group tour could never afford you. Our day together took me to some of Amsterdam's most charming brown pubs and introduced me to the magic that is cheese dipped in mustard. We sipped on some of the finest beer I've tasted together with shots of Geneva. More importantly I experienced life as a native in one of Europe's most vibrant cities. Alan was truly a joy to spend the day with and his guidance is unrivaled. If you are looking for a guide reading notes off of a sheet and speaking to you like a teacher reading from a textbook, don't call Alan. If you are looking to experience Amsterdam with a friend, look no further.

Show moreWhen traveling, we like to learn about the area we are in, as well as getting an idea of where things are; having a private tour guide is a wonderful way to experience a town or city.
Show moreWendi was fantastic. She really focused the tour on our wants, including stopping for specialty food when we wanted, allowing us time to shop along the way, and listening to our feedback to change the tour as we went along. She also showed us some great hidden gems!
