I love calling Lecce home, a city full of history, art, and mouthwatering local traditions. Exploring hidden corners and maritime hamlets is my passion, and I enjoy discovering local restaurants with authentic food to share with visitors. I know the old city of Lecce and Nardò like the back of my hand and love guiding people through their streets while sharing stories of their ancient, medieval, and early modern history. From cultural and religious history to local folklore, I’m here to make your Lecce experience engaging, fun, and unforgettable!
As an archaeologist with a deep love for my city’s history, I’m endlessly fascinated by its traditions and legends. What I adore most about Lecce is the magical light that dances across its churches and palaces throughout the day, especially the rose window of the Basilica of Santa Croce at twilight. On Sundays, I enjoy living the “vita lenta,” exploring new breakfast spots, and spending peaceful moments reading in the Cathedral Square. I know the city center inside out and can’t wait to share the stories, flavors, and hidden corners that make Lecce so captivating.
I’m Rita, and I absolutely adore Lecce. I love strolling through the Old Town, day or night, discovering hidden corners, charming squares, and the elegant beauty of Santa Croce. Walking around Lecce never gets old. I enjoy the mix of history, stunning architecture, and lively streets filled with local life. I know the neighborhoods really well, from the best spots for food and drinks to the quieter gems off the beaten path. I’m passionate about sharing the city’s character and surprises, and I’m always ready to help visitors explore Lecce in a way that is fun, authentic, and full of local charm.
What fascinates me most is the golden Baroque light, when the sun touches Lecce stone and the facades come alive. I enjoy wandering through hidden courtyards and lively squares, soaking in the slow and authentic rhythm of daily life, and stepping into small shops to watch artisans at work so I can feel part of a living tradition. You’ll often find me tasting the true flavors of Salento after a walk through the streets and shops of the historic center, or enjoying a long brunch after yoga or a walking session in the city parks. I know the city center and neighborhoods very well, and as a Salento food expert I love talking about local cuisine, as well as traditions linked to tarantism, witches, and the healers of Salento.
